Is 200W enough light for a 3x3 tent?

I have two 100W LEDs, one Vivosun VS1000 and one Phlizon PL1000.

I want to have 2-3 plants in a 3’x3’x5’ tent (I found strains that are supposed to grow small plants). Autoflower.

I’m planning to get a third light for the tent, unless you guys think it’s not necessary.

If I do get a third light should I get another 100W or would 50W be enough?

I don’t really have a way to accurately measure PAR or PPFD.

Info only, not advice, 200w will flower 1 plant to full potential.

Couple rules of thumb for lighting

  1. 200w per plant
or 2) 40-50w per sq. ft.

You would be slightly under powered but another 100w would allow you to grow 3 plants if the lights are kept close to the canopy.

Your lighting mfg’s should have a par map with intensity and distance from canopy so you don’t really need a meter. Smart phones have DLI/PPFD apps that alow you to measure if you are not familiar. They are free. Photone for the Iphone and PPFD meter for android.

@Bonjoyle on point, I run 300W in 3x3, 1 photo in a 6gal or more will fill the space if you want it to

3x3 = 9 sq ft, 45 watts per sq ft. 405 watts ideal for that size tent. You can get by with less, but flowering will not meet full potential.

I was using 7 gallons. Wanted just a bit more so bumped it up to a 10. Here is my last grow. 12 zips.

and a frost shot

Now if I can do it again…

Hey Fish I’d do the 100w myself. I have a 4x4 and a 8x4. In the 4x4 I have 4@100w and in the 8x4 I have 2@408w each and works out real well.
I’ve added a 100w UV and 4 100w deep red to my 8x4 for supplemental lighting. Sunrise and Sunset for about 30 minutes each.

Beautiful grow bud! Current grow is in a 10gal, hoping for somewhere similar :crossed_fingers:

I use the se3000 in my 3x3. Works great. I feel I would have heat issues with more watts.
