Im new to growing What did I do wrong?

Hey can someone please help me figure out what I’m doing wrong? I’m growing Bruce Banner autoflower and I noticed some purple on leaf stems and one plant with purple buds but everything els looked fine so I wasn’t that worried, but then I decided to do a flush because that’s what google said :person_facepalming: and I added a little Epson salt and molasses hoping to help with the purple stems. Now alot of my leaves are turning brown. I don’t know if it could be because of what I did or lack of nutrients or could be light burn because I have struggled with figuring out the best lighting that I can get at my local atwoods/Walmart that are cheap enough I could afford. Can some one please help me… am new to growing and I have to do it on a VERY SMALL budget because when your raising kids and paying bills and your the only breadwinner in the house… well let’s just say there is no extra !!! Lol thanks for the help…

You lucked out, I think. The Bruce Banners got mixed up with some Purple Hulks - looks like you got mostly Bruce but one Purp instead.

After flushing there’s nothing left in the soil. What kind of nutrients do you have on hand?

Other info would be helpful but let’s start with nutrients and I’ll give you a support ticket to fill out afterward so we can assess the situation fully.

Welcome to the forum. Grayson has you covered, I just want to offer some encouragement. Back in the day, we didn’t have all the technology we have today but cannabis still grew. These plants have a remarkable sense of survival. They can pop back from the brink of death — a lot worse than where you are with a nutrient deficiency — and still survive to maturation and harvest. IOW, you’ll be fine.

Welcome to the community ! @Daniel0

Plant is probably not as bad as you think it is
Sometimes they get a little ugly looking but she’s still growing

Get that nute information and any of this that you can fill out will help

Hey I’m not sure how to work this yet sorry. There is something you want me to fill out? Sorry I fell asleep last night as soon as I posted the question. But I will say yall are amazing!!! I have people offering to help and just welcoming me to the community ! That is absolutely awsome and reassuring to know I have that help if needed. I should have asked questions a long time ago ! Ok the only real nuts. I had was some type Alaska fish fertilizer and of course miracle grow. I know that it’s kind of frowned on to use From what I have read online but honestly it’s What I’m familiar with the most. I gave them a little when I 1st noticed this happening would have gave them the fish fertilizer but I don’t know how long this stuff stays good for and it’s almost 2 years old. I will post a pic of the other nutrients that I have. I live in a very small town in the South so we don’t really have A store you can buy marijuana friendly stuff. Once again thank yall for the help !!! PH runoff was 5.8ish I’m growing in 5gall buckets in cheap potting soil 16371728904302980180649310806882|236x500

5.8 is a little low if you are growing in soil I believe the proper ph is 6.2-6.5ish

Lol well as long as you know :grinning:

If you are in straight miracle grow , I’d probably not add any nutes at all, at least until we figure out what any / all issues are

The added nutes could very well be contributing to the problems

As for filling out ticket, you just want to copy and paste with answers filled out as best as you know

Things like ph are particularly important if you are testing for that, and you should be :grinning:

I understand that you might not have a ph meter or tds meter, but between miracle grow and possible bad ph, this could easily be the extent of problems

Miracle grow can’t be helped at this point, but the good news is this can be managed (@Dr.ofSmokology grows in it and does amazingly)

So copy this and fill out as best as you can then paste into your next post and we will try to get you situated

thanks @Mr_Wormwood for the tag. yes if in straight Miracle Grow plese dont add anything but water at least until you hit flowering then u can add a bit of pk booster. don’t flush as u will continue to over feed. any questions im here.

Thanks @Mr_Wormwood for grabbing the ticket. I was being lazy last night and got too busy to get to it today :man_facepalming:t3:

I’ll second the statement above. 5.8 is low for soil. As long as you’re feeding in the 6.5 to 6.8 range when you water, you’ll be okay. Runoff numbers can be scary but don’t always mean much. :v:

I’ve never miracle gro’d but absolutely here to help where I can.

Do you know what the ph going in was?

Ok ill answer all I can. I’m growing in 5gall buckets and one is in a 5gall pot runoff is really fast and I let them get dry almost to where u can tell in the leaves. My PH going in is 5.8to 6.8 but that after I lower it with vinegar because out of my tap is 7.5 to 8 so I have to keep an eye on my PH alot. Now my lighting system if u want to call it that is a little of everything that is LED. Mostly 1500 lumns bulbs and four 6000 lumen 65k LED lights. I also have 3 of the red and blue LED hanging lights from ebay… I checked my lighting with a app I downloaded and my LUX is anywhere from 20000 to 40000. I don’t know if that helps… they are in a spare room that gets 78° maybe up to 80° during the day and at night around 70°. If there is anything els u need to know please ask… thanks for the help !!!

Did I fill out that ticket right ? Sorry if not… but just a update they look a little better now. I trimmed off the dead leaves and lifted my lights a little bit just in case that was the problem.

The way you did it works just fine.

What are you using to measure pH?

Heat sure looks like it’s impacting them, you may be dead on there. Do you happen to have a thermometer in there near the canopy level? Cuz if the leaves are gettin hot (over 78-80) your ladies will definitely start to show it.

Yep now we need to know what kind of meters do u use. pH and ppm meters. U can get away with a cheapo ppm meter but I would. It go anything less than and apera ph20 or a bluelabs pH meter. The cheaper versions on Amazon will work just get apera or bluelabs even Hannah works lol. No vivosun pH meters. They r cheap as u will see but cheap for a reason as they last a super short time before they go e u janky readings. Soil is best PhD at 6.5 to 6.8at the big end. Seems like the plants are super super hungry to me by looks. U might wanna see about jumping into a cannabis friendly soil and nutrients. Jacks 321 is great for the nutes ffof ffhf coast of Maine strawberry fields canna coco are all good soils or mediums for indoor and outdoor growing. Fabric or oxy pots are best for growing next to hydro style try and steer clear of the solid plastic pots without alot of drainage. Not as nice to the roots as the OXY pots or fab pots are lol. Welcome and good luck. There r a ton of awesome growers on here. Fully medicated is a man who grew in mg soil alot and had some pretty good results so it is not best to do but it totally works out

Ok I’m going to send some more pics I think I got them too close to the light maybe. Is this something that I can recover from and not effect my end product too much being that my plants are well into flowering ? Also I trimmed off the dead or forsure dying leaves do I need to trim all the yellow ones ? Really in general can I trim this late into flower to let more light through to other buds ? I’m going to take a pic of my whole setup and just tell me how bad it really is and wat I need to change first and fast lol but keep in mind I by no means have alot of money… basically non existence at this point lol so I have maybe 50 bucks in everything I have… well except for the seeds of course… once again I can’t thank yall enough !!! Oh yeah the plants that are in buckets have holes all the way around them. But hoping to buy a good light after these are done. 20211118_072936|236x500

Oh. 100% I recommend a different/better PH meter (Apera or BlueLabs)

The leaves that have fallen off look like old leaves from beneath the canopy - seem like the ones that tend to die off without enough light penetration. No big deal.

As far as the crispy tips - I consider that a good sign. Means they have exactly as much nutrient as they can successfully process.

The “praying” leaves may be the only indicator of too much light intensity. Easiest fix would be to raise the lights up a little higher or lower the intensity just a little bit. But honestly not seeing any signs of light burn or real intense heat stress, either. I’d be inclined to leave it for now.

Just my 2 cents. :v:

Rinse those meters well after use. Every time. They work but will fall out of calibration easy. Stopped getting them. Are great for budget. Ph down is your friend. North Texas reservoir ph from 7.8-9. Depends on rainfall. I use flower fuel in flower…duh…and it will drop 1 point a scoop a gallon alone. After it sits a bit mixed with everything i check it. Few years of same routine and i can tell you what ph is before i stick in the meter…. BUT always check. Drought here one summer. Rained its butt off. Had stopped testing. Water hit 10 at least. 4 auto locked right out. Saved 1. Just was not watching. Too comfy. Too arrogant. Paid for it…rofl.

@Daniel0 just my experience but your buckets need way more holes than that as well. it should look like it was on a target range. i have at least 30 holes thru my buckets.just a thought

my bad just reread your post. holes all around. only saw a couple holes in the pic

I second this. I recommend the Apera PC60, as it does it all and more. I bought two separate meters and still ended up buying the single do it all meter. It’s so much better, and more accurate too!

Also, second what @Dr.ofSmokology said. Not only do I think you need more, but I think the location of those holes is bad. The area beneath the holes can pool with water. Put some holes on the bottom, get a tray of some sort, and an elevator to put them on to raise them off the ground to allow drainage.

Try and replicate this: (don’t mind the droop, my first time using Coco, she was just overwatered)

My plant is on an elevator, tge elevator sitting in a saucer.
