Hi could someone please tell me what this is? I have looked through many of articles and not found anything like this.
A picture of the whole plant would help but that is one the lower leafs they naturally die off as the plant grows
Welcome @pj9 Lots of info to be found here. Please enjoy some of the grow journals and use the search function for quick reference.
That may also be a sign of slight nute burn.
Let me also ping a couple of experts @PurpNGold74 @dbrn32 @Dankloud any thoughts?
I’m not qualified to give plant help anymore lol. I can’t even keep my own plants from turning yellow
Definitely looks like a nutrient issue though…
Checking pH of the water? Are you giving nutrients? What soil?
Leaf likely got wet in contact with media and you are seeing the result: plant looks fine.
Bit of N burn. Straight water next few feedings should fix her up.
What is your medium?
What are you feeding?
I think it’s a combo of a couple things. But having a complete run down of the grow would be helpful. Cut&paste support ticket and fill out details.
WELCOME TO THE FORUM! I don’t believe there’s a better place to get quality information!
Ill just leave this here….

[/quote] this is my second time growing, first time plant did not make it was a few years ago. allowed to have two plants per law in my state. Use foil with lights to max light on plants at night. daylight for daytime. Move from sunny window to sunny window. House will dehydrate food if left out without spoil due to how dry it is in here. only open window on non humid days to let plants get some full sun witch is through a window screen. not sure on what to buy when it comes to a ph test or where to buy the best fertilizers. they seem fine just didnt know what the leaf issue is. never overwatered. I thank the community for all the help that they may offer now and in the future.
Ph is crucial to allowing the plant absorb nutrients. Should look into getting a pH meter like the Apera ph20, or get a multifunction reader like the Apera PC60, as it does pH, and EC.
TDS and EC give you an indication of how much nutrients are in your solution.
TDS is Total Dissolved Solids, and is computed by multiplying EC, which is Electrical Conductivity, by a certain predetermined factor, usually 500. So the EC functionality of a meter is what I would recommend you look for, as you can convert that to any TDS factor you need, if needed at all.
Also I have no idea what your exact set up looks like, or if you share the same room as the plant, but those bulbs you are buying are going to get really quite hot. Just keep this in mind. A lot of people (most?) have moved on to LEDs, which are cooler running, more efficient, and longer lasting. Not saying you won’t grow some bomb bud with HPS bulbs, but just something to be aware of.
Highly recommend getting a Hygrometer too. It’s important to know the relative humidity of the grow space.
I personally recommend Jacks Nutrients. You would need Part A, Part B, and Epsom Salt. I just got my Epsom on Amazon, and just go to Jacks website for the Part and B.
Dank, your back! Good to see your text again friend.
Thanks man! Yup I have returned.
I now have both the PH20 and the PC60. I like the PC60 for its multifunctionality, the backlight is dope, but even better, it reads down to the hundredth for pH! It is definitely a lot more expensive though…
It doesn’t appear to be nutrient lockout from ph, because I’m not seeing and curling of the leaves or purple on the stems, and the new growth looks good.
I don’t think it’s nutrient toxicity, because it doesn’t look like it’s starting at the tip and working it’s way down the leaf. And I don’t see burnt tips on the rest of the plant.
To me, being localized around the margin of the leaf, it looks like a magnesium deficiency.
But, it’s always pertinent to check the ph and ppm of your runoff when having issues like this. This should always be the first step.
Top pic. Plant to the right. Just a tipped finger of a leaf.
First set of leaves. Same pic (top)
And second pic all the lower fingers. N the 2nd true node
Ordered everything except the humidity meter, and epsom. have some epsom here. ordered the 25lb bags of jacks, figure i could use it in the garden too. don’t know if i might want to filter water with the coffee maker to help with the hardness of the water. stuff is pretty pricy when it comes to growing lol. thanks for the tips on what to use. going to see if i can set up in my spare bathroom for a growing room it has just about all the right tools needed to grow for 12 on and 12 off period. Thanks again
You got Part A and B from Jacks right? 25lb bag will last a while lol
In this instance the price tag is worth it. I ordered a 12 dollar one and it worked for two tests then I dropped it. Got another one that would not hold calibration, I threw that one. Already half the price of the good one and still in my first grow, my ol lady told me to stop being so cheap. She is often correct about things so I reluctantly agreed and then ate crow for a week.
