Hydro Growers - what are your NPK ratios including calmag?

It’s hard to find info on, but I’m trying to figure out how much calmag to have in my nute solution for veg. I read one article that said to use K-Cal-Mg in a 4-2-1 ratio, what do you guys use? Going with a 3-1-2-1-.5 mixture until i can find new info.

Am I correct in saying they are antagonists to each other? Too much of either one will inhibit the uptake of the other?

Yes, they can be best friends or worst enemies.

I would say 4-2-1. But I think either one will work well depending on the environment.

What nutrient line are you using Growmie. Jacks 321 is a simple and balanced ratio of the Macro, secondary and micro nutrients :love_you_gesture:

Aren’t there a bunch of different things you have to mix together?

I was looking at the kits and saw a part a and b I think but I guess the other bags were just supplements him couldn’t tell.

Jacks 321 has 3 parts: A, B and Epsom salt. I’ve omitted the Epsom because part A has magnesium and sulfur in it. 4 grams of Part A and 2 grams of Part B per gallon. The only supplement I add is 3-5 ml of silica before adding the jacks. Simple, easy and the 2.2 lb bags will last several grows :love_you_gesture:

Why the silica? Would you also add it if you were running Jacks 15-5-20?

Silica is never a bad idea tbh. Helps with the plant’s resilience

Supplementing Silica

  • Increases cell wall strength
  • Improves nutrient uptake
  • Protects plants from soil contamination
  • Enhances plant metabolism
  • Defends plants against disease
  • Helps to ward off pests

I would definitely recommend silica with coco or hydro, and at the recommended amounts. While it may not be necessary, but knowing what I know now, I would run silica with soil at half strength also.

What brand you use? I’m bout out of rino skin and can’t afford right now so thinking Armor Si for the win :sunglasses::cowboy_hat_face:

TPS silica Gold or GH silica Blast have worked well for me :love_you_gesture:

Paula and I are back to empty nesters…like pulling teeth to get back in the work mode. I forgot to mention the silica has worked really well helping combat WPM especially the summer months when I stuff a tent full of plants :love_you_gesture:

I was just about to say this haha!

Jack 321 or 4/2 is as simple as it gets with amazing results!! And it only cost about 4 cents a gallon.

Great info! I’ll definitely order some up and add it to the mix.

i use silica bloom, strongest yet most expensive there is from what i understand

it calls for 1mL per gallon, if u want full strength. i always start off with .5mL per gallon so that it still makes a difference, but just barely enough to be able to stoll train the plants as they grow

Thank you @Hershy420 and @Autos-only. I ordered some TPS as @OGIncognito mentioned it in his post. Just arrived the other day and I’ve already incorporated it into my mix at .5 TSP per gal in my autopot reservoir to start.

I do have a few questions though to the group if you don’t mind…

I have what looks like some magnesium deficiency, possibly a little light burn (as I was pushing my DLI a bit high at 25 and I’m in week 3) on two of the four plants since I switched to the autopots. I backed the lights down to a DLI of 20 and checked my PH… it had climbed to 6.5 in the tank so I corrected back down to 5.8 and did a EP salt spray. It seems to have helped but wanted some other options. The PH in the tank crept to 5.9 overnight and 6.15 in the trays. My PPM is 1000 15-5-20. Planning to lower my ph in the reservoir further to about 5.7 seeing the trays seem to run .2 higher than the reservoir… thoughts?? Just don’t understand though why my PH slowly creeps up about .1 a .2 per day. I mix all my nutes at 70 degrees and they are stored in the tent in the black covered tank with a Circulation pump. It’s all clean with No funny smells.

Also- these are autos… again three GDP’s and one Zkittles… they’re just past their 5th node and not sure if I should plan top (just before 6th) with them being autos…. I don’t see any signs of them going into flower yet, but would love some expert opinions from my growmies if possible! I’ve read it’s often best to not top auto’s…

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, plants look healthy.

I did have some coco this run cause me some problems, ph was high and runoff was really high. Wasn’t very clean coco.

It corrected quickly.

Okay, thanks. It does seem to be improving. Would you top these with them being auto’s?
