Its that time.
Has anyone advice in terms of nutrients during this duration?
What nutrients are you using now Growmie. My advice is keep it simple and don’t fall for all the marketing gimmicks out there with PK boosters. Less is more IMO. Jacks 321, GH, Mega Crop are a few nutrient lines that provide all the needed Macro and micro nutrients from start to harvest
Well to be honest i use a mix of MG 30-10-10 / Potassium nitrate/ epson salt and occasionally some monopotassium phosphate during veg.
Ive learned to add calcium and add as much of it as i do potassium later on in flower that really puts in on parr with medical grade in terms of tight, thick, heavy buds.
This year ive noticed the beginning of preflower,it started yesterday and cant help but imagine there should be something special to add for the next 1 to 4 weeks during this stage i guess… maybe silica ??
That MG 30-10-10 has a lot of nitrogen for the flower phase. It also has Potassium and would say that adding more isn’t necessary. I prefer a simple approach, correcting a deficiency is much simpler than correcting toxicity or nutrient lockout. Just my advice Grow Bro
Hey I agree and not a good balance, that formula should drag your harvest down. If you’re not using cannabis-designed nutes then at least copy their formulas. They all have low N high P and almost as high K and a list of other minerals. Calcium magnesium sulfur and more. I do something like that but not spectacular plants they’re ok and lots potent.
I use green planet nutes and they have done a awesome job however they are expensive. I grow hydroponic and im going to try jacks 321 next grow
Thanks grow bros
I should say that i do lower the ppm with the MG 30 10 10 ,im not exactly sure how much but wat i aim for is 200 - 400 more total ppm during flower. Say im hitting 1800 with my veg mix and just barely tip burn ill turn down the MG 200ppm and up start with monopotassium phosphate 200 and add 200 calcium. The balancing act for me is to try to keep my EC under 3500, i like to aim for 3000 an they dont burn but wat i found out last year was to keep the calcium ppm close as possible to the potassium ppm during flower.
As others have said, 30-10-10 is a bad ratio for flower. Currently my plants are just starting to turn so I’m giving them about equal parts nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. As flower progresses I strongly pull back on nitrogen. If a plant has access to both lots of nitrogen and lots of phosphorous it will tend to use more nitrogen. So to truly nourish the flowers you must slightly starve the plsnt of nitrogen without causing a serious nitrogen deficiency.
Do not use silica during flower. It will make the buds very hard and tough. Silica strengthens cell walls and is best used during early life and veg. It will make the stalks way tougher plus also increase the plants defenses against pests, powdery mildew, etc. But it is bad during flower for the same reason it is good during veg - it strengthens cell walls. This can negatively effect the texture of your buds. I will give my plants their last feeding of silica this week.
Thanks for the reply.
This year ill cut out the 30 10 10 and use calcium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate, potassium itrate, magnesium sulfate and probably a dose of signal every now and then.
Idk whether that’s good or bad, depends on the NPK. For end of veg and early flower you should be giving them about equal parts nitrogen and phosphorous and by mid flower you should be strongly pulling back on the nitrogen. Cannabis needs a steady amount of potassium the whole way through.
For veg you want something like 5-2-4, which is the NPK of Coast of Maine Stonington Blend. Their Buds n Blooms is 5-13-0 which is pretty good for flower although you should add some kelp for potassium.
For now 1st week of flower im doing
30 10 10
15 30 15
13 0 45
In equal measure.
Ill drop the 30 10 10 midflower and add calcium nitrate
15 0 0 and MPK
0 52 34. Along with
15 30 15
Whew wee at the nitrogen… be careful… flowering girls dont like alot of nitrogen. I hit mine at 10 and i nearly sent them into toxicity…
I wish i knew how to figure the total overall npk from wat i give.ill be giving 1.5 tbs of
15 30 15
13 00 45
15 00 00 and .75 tbs of
00 52 34 in 5 gal.
Ill probably use borax as my ph up with that too or KOH .
Im not having the kind of luck i need with flowering feed.
Im inclined to think even tho the 30 10 10 ratio is nitrogen high,im only giving a partial dose of it…they like it and it balances out the ph with the other stuff the best i can do.
If i knew how to calculate the overall npk id bet its closer to a 3/5/10 ratio.
