How long can I soak seeds

How long do you/can you soak seeds? I have soaked 10 seeds and only 1 has popped. Only 1 developed a tail. I tried planting 4 after soaking 2 days and 4 days. Not one sprouted.

Im not a newbie. Ive been buying seeds fron ilgm for at least 4 years. Ive had sime problems with seeds in the past but not this bad and getting replacement seeds sounds easy but trust me, its not.

I soak a day. But dunno how long you can.
Im scared of effects of still-water and possible rot. I don’t soak til tails show, just a day to soften then into paper towel. With the assumption soaking helps weaken the shell. I wonder if I got the wrong idea but it works. I hope more info comes along

Twenty four hours to soften the shell an onto paper towel method or in the soil
Happy growing :v:

24hr soak in a medicine cup with 2 or 3 drops of peroxide. Then 24hr in a wet paper towel folded in a ziploc. Plant when a quater inch tail develops. Sprout withing 2-3 days. Total time, dry bean to emerging plant? 4 days, 5 tops.

I bought my first beans from ILGM in May of '21. I had 3 out of a 10pk not germ. 18mo’s later (takes me a while to go through packs), I emailed ILGM, and within 5 days, I had 5 replacements in my mailbox.

I haven’t tried the paper towel method. Ive always used the method recommended ny ilgm.

So put in a damp paper towel into a baggie? Is that right? In a dark place? How long?

Ive gotten replacement seeds before. We went back and forth for months before they finally replaced them. I really don’t want to go through that again.

Soak the bean for 24hrs to soften it up. I either wait til it cracks open, or the 24hr mark. Then put in the paper towel and bag. Leave bag open a little and put somewhere dark and preferably in the low to mid 80’s. Warmer temps will speed up the germ process a tad, but too warm will cook the beans. Don’t ask me how I know this, lol.

Dang, I just sent an email that I had some not germ, and got a reply the next morning saying they put replacements in the mail. Like 3 months ago maybe? Try hitting them up if you still have order numbers.

Maie sure the paper towel is pretty damn, but not dripoing wet.

I use two lids. Just cuz no longer buying plastic baggies.

And I give up too easily. 5 days for me but its not good advice. I do dark but check every 12h or less so when they pop Im on top of it and light starts. Also not good advice. Warm, I puit my lids on top of my tent

Correct my innaccuracy… I check often cuz I dont want inch-long sprouts anymore. Rather handle half-inch sprouts. In soil yes straight under a light. They obviously dont need it under dirt but the minute they pop up its there
