Someone please help, I have been trying to germinate my seeds for over a week. They have sunk to the bottom of the glass. They had a little foggy outline and so I added some peroxide to the water. I now decided to take them out of the dark and put them in the window. What else can I do?
A week is far too long to soak. Most growers don’t soak for more than 18hrs. Chances are your seeds have drowned if they have began to develop a film.
I use a medicine cup with 10-15ml tap water and 3 or so drops of hydrogen peroxide. After 18hrs soaking, the seeds go in a once folded, damp paper towel. Put in a bag for another 18 or so hrs. By this time you should have a taproot forming and can plant in your medium.
Be sure to keep dark and warm until planted. 75-85°.
Do you have more seeds? It is time to start over. I have to agree, those are probably drowned.
If they don’t smell bad (rotten) it couldn’t hurt to throw them in some soil. In case one made it. But I would not hold my breath. I am sorry for bad news.
No, I don’t have more seeds. I want to contact customer service but I don’t know how.
A week soak is far too long for them to replace but you may get lucky. The video on their site says to check after 24 hours and up to 72hrs.
You have to contact customer service @ILGM.Sharon. The guarantee may not work like @Borderryan22 mentioned.
If they cannot help you out I would be glad to send you some seeds no strings attached. I feel for you…
I emailed you, you should delete your personal info though….
I usually PM thru another site. But I got it now.
How did those seeds do for you? Did you get them to sprout this time?
I know it’s an old post, but how is your success rate with this method? I tried the ILGM method and only 2 out of 5 popped, and then 0 out of 3 of the replacements. Luckily customer service rocks and they sent 3 new. I’m only going to try one right now, and I’m going to try your method this time. Just curious your germination rate.
Going from shot glass to paper towel to medium, about 90-95%, but that’s multiple breeders and strains. It’s been the best method for me though.
Great, thanks for the reply! I started the soak on my Fruity pebbles photo seed a couple hours ago, here’s hoping!
I’ve had a lot of success using the soak the seeds for 24 hours in a small glass bowl with hydrogen peroxide.
Then line a small tupperware container with a couple of layers of wet paper towels, place seeds on top and cover container.
Place conatiner on top of warm part of refridgerator or warming mat, covered with a dish cloth ( so no light get to seeds). My brother-in-law swears by leaving it in the shower so it stays warm.
In two days you’ll have sprouts germinated! Knock on wood…but I usually get at least 4 out of 5, most times 5 out of 5.
Let me know if you need me to clarify anything, it’s actually pretty easy once you do the process once.
Aloha from Hawaii!!
I have extra seeds leftover from the Phylos order, I’ll send you some to get started. The Phylos has been almost a perfect germination rate and grows exactly as the scientist folks advertised on ILGM. I bought 60 seeds and started with 20 seeds and they all mostly sprouted and are growing great, I’m maxed out for this year so if you want to try some don’t hesitate to ask.
