First time attempting a grow.I am in the process of germinating a few seeds. I left them in a glass of water (per ilgm instructions) for 72 hours. They all popped open but no tail. After reading some other post I decided to take them out and put them in damp paper towels. They are in my grow room, dark, consistent temp of 77° F. Humidifier running. I am on day 6, they have barely progressed. Do I need to go ahead and put them in soil, or am I just being impatient.
I would go ahead and plant them and see what happens. When I germinate seeds, I soak in water with a few drops of 3% peroxide for 24hrs then plant in my grow media.
@Lrf1417 , Welcome to the forum.
I follow CJs method as well. 24 hrs in water then plant it in dirt or whatever your going to grow in.
I plant it even if its not cracked or showing a tail. Left in water they can die of lack of oxygen. That’s why the few drops of peroxide. It breaks down into oxygen and Co2. After the soak if they are going to grow then I dont want to keep flipping them around on paper towels or other ways. The seed is trying to grow a root downwards and we keep reorienting the thing up, down and sideways. 90 percent of the time you will have a sprout three days after you plant it. Some seeds just are not viable and this is true in all of nature. Keep track as ILGM will replace bad seeds.
That said, others have success with other methods, so whatever you land on that is successful keep doing it. Just remember, Clean, warm, and time. You cant rush nature.
Welcome to the forum!!! Get them in the dirt!!! Some don’t wait for tails. Some don’t even drop them in water and go straight to dirt.
This is how I germ, and some others. For me, personally, it has worked every time…
I soak medicine cup with distilled water and 3-4 dropped of peroxide. Keep it in a dark warm place, like a cabinet or drawer. When it pops open, or I hit the 18 hour mark, I put in a paper towel, and use the water I soaked it in to dampen it. When the tail appears, or at another 18 hours, whichever is first, it goes in the dirt. Keep it moist, dark and warm.
Again, this is what has worked for me. Good luck and happy growing!!!
