How early can you defoliate in veg

Hey guys got a question about my new plant. The growth is explosive. I’ve been trying down the fan leaves a bit to help get light down in there. I’ve been considering cutting two top leafs to allow more light. I’m curious if it’s too early.

Your plant needs those leaves to do photosynthesis and produce the sugars the plant needs to be healthy and grow. The nutrients will be shuttled by the plant where they are needed via the stem system. They are the main “solar panels” the plant has. There’s plenty of airflow within the plant. I wouldn’t take anything off at this point.

I wouldnt do anything to slow down the explosive growth. Make sure to get a fan on it

I tend to defoliate a little more than others…but always cut anything touching the dirt or that is damaged.

I don’t defoliate anything above my scrog. In flower i will take only leaves that block light from bud sites. I do however defoliate under the scrog after flipping to flower. I use a forced air intake for under plant air flow and fan above plant to give top of plant air flow so no need to defoliate for air flow. That my take on air flow. Don’t know if the best way just what i do!

In veg its not too big of a thing to worry about. Just clean up your plants weekly or so in veg. I agree with @Audiofreak about lollipoping the bottoms and remove any leaves blocking light to bud sights. Try to get an even canopy for eaiser light spacing and efficiency.
