At what point do I start picking off the biggest bud leaves blocking light ??

When you can’t tuck them, they block light or towards end of vegging.

Okay thank you, they may be ending the veg cycle ! I haven’t got a clue

Auto or photo?

They’re Auto, Banana Kush. I may have posted twice sorry

I grow autos you don’t want to remove too many at one time…

Ok cool, I may remove one or two that are huge , someone had advised me not to at this early stage . I thought I would ask the experts first

How many nodes on the main stalk?

I’m confused by the term “bud leaves.”

I don’t defoliate fan leaves except when I need to lower humidity, I’m concerned about microclimates, or when I strip the lower 9” of a plant for airflow and access.

I let fan leaves die and dry on my plants. They release their mobile nutrients to the new growth. Defoliation may lead to deficiencies.

I forgot to point out that fan leaves can’t really block light. They’re the only part of the plant that photosynthesizes (except perhaps the crow’s feet leaves under each bud site).

So they’re was not need to remove the fan leaves , could that harm them ?

Do you have any pics of it? If you take too many fan leaves off with an auto it could stress it may stunt growth. I’ve took alot off my northern lights auto and it had stunted its growth. Big fan leaves helps alot by doing photosynthesis to give energy to plant itself. What week vegitative stage is it? @TyBuds

You’re mostly just making the plant spend resources to replace the photosynthetic capacity you removed, although that isn’t exactly how it works.

This particular one has started flowering… I’ll upload some new ones

Imo taking off a few fan leaves that need to be taken off that’s blocking some bud sites should be fine to do I wouldn’t think it would give her stress. @TyBuds

Defoliation is done more at the begining of flower divert wastes energy to larf buds that dont get prioritized by the plant and remove them and send energy to select upper colas
