Hlg 350 Diablo worth it?

What’s up growmies? I’m considering pulling the trigger on a 350 Diablo for my 2x4 tent. Today is the last day of the 20% off sale . I already have a mars hydro sp3000, I was going to buy another one of those that I know will fit side by side, until I found hlg on sale. I think I can add the Diablo with the sp3000 which will bring me to 630 watts in the tent. Is that going to be overkill for that space? Or is the Diablo that much better of a light that I won’t need the sp3000 anymore. Save little over a 100$ on a Diablo or pay 359$ for another sp3000… any advice appreciated! Enjoy your day growmies!

That HLG will provide all the lighting the plants need in a 2 x 4 Grow Bro. 40-50 watts of quality lighting per sqft. will work :love_you_gesture:

Right I agree, but then so should my sp3000 . Only 30 watts less power and a great par map for a strip light. Is the Diablo just a better fixture?

The main difference between HLG and Spider is the diodes used. HLG uses LM301h diodes and Spider used LM301b diodes. The LM301h diodes are about 10% more efficient than the LM301b model.

Yes HLG is a higher quality light using the LM301H series diodes :love_you_gesture:

Hmm well I’ve got some thinking to do or a coin to flip. My sp3000 is only a few months old. Really don’t want it collecting dust for who knows how long because I can’t really expand my operation right now.

I have the 350r in a 3x3.5. I’m satisfied…

If I’m not mistaken, today is the last day of the HLG 20% off sitewide Labor Day Sale, also. Should be able to use code DUDE10 for another 10% off.

I was looking at Led grow lights Depot. They have 20% off today yet. Didn’t look at hlg site. Thanks man!

One of the best things about the Diablo boards, in my opinion, is that they have about twice as many LED chips as other light boards. This allows HLG to size the drivers to about 50-60% of the board’s current capacity. The result is a much cooler running light with better penetration. I do need to admit that I have no experience with your other option.

Yes, most definitely worth it. I have an HLG Scorpion Diablo in my 4 x 6 closet, and 350R’s in my 2 1/2 x 5 and 2 x 4 tents. Not only do the plants like them better than my previous fixtures, but they generate less heat as well.

I use both sp3000’s and hlg 350r. Both handle that space well, and yields are similar in a 2x4 space. However over all the 350r can handle more as it’s coverage can exceed the 2x4 a bit.

I’m kinda moving towards bar lights… so if I had to buy for a 2x4 again I’d look at the spider farmer g4500 or something similar.

I’ve also run 2 of the sp3000’s in a 2x4 space and it was super over kill but the coverage was perfect. Didn’t get much passed 50% power.

If you intend on moving up to a larger tent later I’d recommend a secondary sp3000 fixture as 2 can handle a 4x4 with amazing coverage and they can be daisy chained.

Just food for thought.

This is a bit outside the topic of conversation but I haven’t been able to redeem any discount codes on hlg for a minute… tried refurb, tried dude, tried dude10, tried the friends one.

Anyone else having this problem?

It’s not just because of the sale, it wasn’t working before it either…

Well that’s a bummer. I ordered mine in February, so I haven’t even tried it since.

Yeah buddy. The refurb and dude discounts have never failed until recently. Haven’t made a purchase from them in quite a while either.

Thanks for the awesome information man, I really needed to hear that from someone who has used both. I’m pretty limited with space right now living in an apartment building. I like the sp3000, buds are dense and solid , and I haven’t had to raise it past 70% power. I was just going to grab the 350 Diablo because of the sale and all the hype I see on here about hlg lights. I have a 2x2 tent that I start plants in under a vivosun vs1000 and a 2x4 to flower. 2 plants right now, 3 at the most. I think I’m partial to another sp3000 as of now.

They are decent for what they are. Recently ran 3 in a 4x4 with 2 fgi UVA’s. Super overkill but it was a fun run. Lol. I will tell you adding in lights is going to increase coverage and your overall bud quality on the edges where there might of been slight drop off, however your yield won’t change much going from 1-2 fixtures.

I’m really understanding the importance of an even canopy and why a lot of peeps top their plant. This run of autos started to flower before I could do any lst or topping, and I’m dealing with low ppfd on all the lower flowers while the main stem is getting 1000ppfd the lowers are 6-700 ppfd. I thought maybe adding another light and lowering it off the side would help the lower branches. Part of the reason I’m considering another light.

700-1000 is a good range. Coverage is a factor for yield chasing, scrogging helps max out your light potential and even spread.
