HLG 135 or 2xHLG 100 for 2x3 tent?

I can get 2 HLG 100 V2 Rspecs refurbished from eBay for $100 each or the 135 direct from HLG for $150 with code. Which option would be best for a 2x3 tent with SOG method. Thanks!

Oh, and wow. I haven’t been on the grow scene in nearly 30 years. So glad laws are changing. This is an amazing time! So much has changed!

Welcome to the forum.

I suggest the HLG 200 would be a more effective light for about the same price.

Yeah, things have changed a lot. I started growing again a few years ago and hadn’t grown since the mid-80s.

Edit: HLG 200 Diablo

If those are your two options, I would probably go with the 2x 100 V2 rspec boards as this would provide you better light coverage through the area.

Like Midwest said that 200 Diablo would be similar price and provide a higher quality light but then you 1 panel vs 2

I know who can give you the best light advice here, @dbrn32 is the resident light guru.

The 200 Diablo would be the complete solution. It’s only draw back is the dimmer is in the driver. But you can set it up with the driver outside the tent and it has great power for a 2x2 or 2x2.5 tent. I looked at two of them for my new 2x4 tent build. The internal dimmer and the extra power cord pushed me on to the 350R.

The two hlg 100’s is probably superior setup in 2x3. Not sure if it’s best you could do, but the way i would go out of those two options.

I’m pretty ignorant of the lighting options available this century (literally). Back in the day, I had a HPS in a closet. It was hot and sucked a lot of electricity. I’m totally jazzed about the possibility of using LEDs. Are there better options in a similar price range?

I appreciate all the help!

This one’s a little more but IMO you won’t be 2nd guessing your purchase later on. It would be a kick azz light for your tent.
Your gonna love LED’s brother, I came from the MH / HPS that was killer on the pockets with electric, bulbs, heat etc… definitely a new age . People now… you got a problem let me get my 3D printer and fix that for you . What a world :earth_africa:
Use code DUDE @ HLG for discount

Any of the stuff mentioned here is great equipment. If i were going to do 2x3 with something off the shelf would probably go with qb260 kit in r-spec. But that’s going to cost more than options you have listed, which are plenty suitable.

Here are the lights dbrn it’s recommending for your space you could do either the regular or XL, the xl comes with a larger heat sink 35 inches long. So there would be an empty spot in the middle which would provide you better light distribution in the space imo. Guess you should check that out will fit in your 36 inch tent first lol

These options are slightly more than what you were debating but if you can it’s the best option for your space. Don’t forget coupon code dude when checking out.

If you don’t want to go the 260 route the dual 100s.

DUDE is 10% discount, GROW is 15% discount. And if you call and are spending enough there is a 20% discount code they can give you. I just checked DUDE and GROW are still valid.

Pi just ordered a refurbished hlg 350r yesterday. Can’t wait to see how it does. Using it in a closet to replace the cmh 315 I’ve got going now.

Your gonna love it… I run the 350r diablo and the 300 in a 5x5 lower on the electric bill than cmh :green_heart::palm_tree:

That was kind of the idea. I’ve heard good things about them, and the dimmer should be especially helpful on electricity. I think I should be able to get at least equal the results to the cmh.

I absolutely loved growing MH/ HPS but LEDs take the cake for sure… I get the same if not better results with em. I don’t have to fight the heat or work an extra job to pay the electric bill.
Happy growing with the upgrade

I hung my new 350R in a new 2x4 tent last night. Still need to hang the UVA-30 XL and get all the controls setup and working. Will do some PPFD testing in a day or so.

That looks nice!

Question for you, I just ordered a 350r. Does it take 4 of those adjustable cords to hang it?

It should come with everything you need to hang it. Unless you don’t get the hanging kit on refurbs. Never bought a refurb. It will need two yoyo’s/ratchet cords. And then everything you see in the pic. I threw those cables out that you see in that pic. They were four different lengths and I couldn’t get the light to hang like I wanted. So for right now I used zip ties.
