Hey everyone, this is my first post. I am planning my grow and after reading lots of info in the forums I’m thinking I might have gotten the wrong lighting. Can you guys please help? I got a 3x2 tent basically (36"x20"x64) and the vipraspectra 450w led light. I’m assuming this is one of the burple lights I’ve been reading about that are undesirable? Did I make a bad choice? Amazon.com
After reading the forums, everyone is recommending hlg and quantum boards and now I’m questioning my setup. I have seen some possible cheaper options from vivosun and spider farmer on Amazon. Are these better than what I originally purchased? I haven’t started anything or even assembled my stuff yet. I’m still waiting on my tent to arrive so I have time if I need to make a change. Here’s what I need help with. What light is the best for my setup? Specific size and model would be helpful. I’m hoping to stay around $150-$180 if possible. Thank you all so much in advance for the help and for your time. It’s much appreciated!
Welcome to the community!! As @Eagles009 said the hlg 135 rspec would be a great choice. Plenty of light but not overpowering. I use that in my tent and it rocks
Welcome to the community ! Your blue purple light it’ll grow buds might not be as dense and solid. I’m with @Eagles009 the HLG 135 R-Spec would be a good choice for your space. If you do get to the point of having two tents you could use your blue purple for veg. Just my thoughts good luck.
Welcome to the forum! I’m wondering what your harvest expectations for the space are? The light you have may be fine for what you are looking to accomplish.
I am thinking 1-2 plants to maximize space and give them enough room to grow. I’m 100% completely a newbie so I’m not sure what exactly to expect yet. I’m just hoping to get the best possible yield per grow for personal use. Thanks for the help!
When i bought mine on hlg website i took advantage of something called sezzle. Not sure if you are familiar but it allows you to buy the light on payments but still get your light right away. Bought mine on 4 payments of 49 bucks and received my light 4 days after ordering. The closer you live to Tennessee the quicker you will receive the light @Amberr
I have similar, maybe even the same tent. Two plants is pretty good choice to run in there getting started. With the light you have i would expect to harvest somewhere in the 3-6oz range on a healthy grow with decent yielding strains. A refined grower could probably get more, a bigger or more efficient light could probably get more as well.
36x20" isn’t very common tent size, so not a lot of options readily available. I custom built light for mine. If I had to choose from something I could buy, I would have gotten a qb 260 r-spec kit and just ran it at reduced power.
Thanks so much! You’re right in price, that’s perfect! Is assembly pretty easy? I’ve never assembled a light before. The instructions look fairly straightforward. I just don’t want to get in over my head if it’s pretty complicated.
I hear you, it’s a weird size. I originally bought a 4x2 but realized I measured wrong and my closet is only 22" deep so I had to find something that would fit for a discrete grow. So I’m losing a foot of grow space in the smaller tent but I made it work, in theory at least. It’s not setup yet.
I love my 135 rspec. Just started a new run and put them under it a week ago. I already have branches sprouting from the cotys. Not just the first leaf set but actually sprouting branches. They are 17 days old so i guess that isn’t uncommon. Just not used to such good growth as i used to have to weak of light
Welcome @Amberr to the neighborhood. I ran across these the other day what they are is the older model sf1000 without the dimmer and daisy chain but everything else is the same. Sf has good customer service and stand behind their lights which are made with the same parts as the HLG you just don’t have pay for the name. Two of these would give you 200w actual power for $200
Very welcome, I saw those think yesterday. On spider farmer website they’re selling off all the old models but I don’t remember seeing em at 100 that’s a good deal and like I said above except the actual board n wiring the parts are exactly the same as HLG uses.
