Hermies all the time now

Last year is got a hermie, and I recently I bought fem auto flower seeds and every seed became a hermie. Every year quality has gone down.

Hermes come from bad genetics aka bad seeds aka bad breeders or they happen because the plant was stressed to much like a light leak.

More information will help people diagnose this issue for you.
Buy some good seeds and check your tent for light leaks

Welcome! I agree with @Budporn. A plant will hermie from bad genes or stress. Basically, it ā€˜feels’ threatened to the point that it ā€˜thinks’ it could die waiting to be pollinated so it takes on the issue to pollinate itself.

I also agree heat and light stress are probably the two most common causes of a hermie.

There could be other stressors. Pests, heat wave, really wet, stagnant air? Review your processes. See anything that jumps out?

Sounds like your doing something that extremely stresses them out , in the 32 plants of 29 different strains I’ve grown I’ve never had a single hermie.

I think feminized seeds are made thru stressing the plant and making it herm out so the trait must carry on like that.

I have also heard there is better luck with ā€œregularā€ seeds less chance of your plant deciding to go woke and go broke, with balls.

This is true to an extent, Fems always have a higher chance then a regular seed but any quality breeder shouldn’t be handing out seeds unless they were bred from stable parents and thus make a healthy offspring. Those offspring should be grown out or even bred out to ensure the seeds are good quality before selling.

Like @GreenSnek said it should be rare one gets a herm, it will be a light leak or a genetic issue the majority of the time.

@BudPorn nailed it

All the growers around me use colloidal silver spray to make fem seeds for fear of having any male pollen close by.

Yes and no. Definitely a seed from a hermaphrodite will tend to be like the parent. Like Nicky said however: highly modified hybrids and particularly feminized will be prone to hermaphrodites. The most vigorous and stable plants come from regular seeds. The downside is the inevitable males that sprout.

If these were ILGM seeds, send out a request for replacement seeds.

Um, colloidal silver on a flowering plant will create male flowers (with pollen). But it’s ā€˜feminized’ so anything pollinated should be female (ish).

I new it was something like that… never got into logistics. I prefer clones
