Help with long term storage

@Bulldognuts @Covertgrower @MattyBear @kdawg Hey all so I’m interested in long term storage of flower…i have a spare apartment size fridge and was wondering if you all had any insight into storage? all bud is currently dried and cured for 2.5 months but I have been thinking of storage. I have a seal a meal machine and was wondering if anyone had done this before what I would do is place about an oz in regular baggies then put into seal a meal bags and seal them after pulling the air out. has anyone tried this and if so, does it work? or does anyone have any insight on long term storage? please let me know and thanks for any input.

Forum posting previously mentioned Vacuum seal method crushed beautiful buds.vacuum bag and
Today I de-carbed and Heat vacuum sealed in quart jars.

Possible solution for your long term storage would be place buds into quart jar, then place quart jar in heat-sealable bag. No crushing, No vacuum (alters moisture content).
Grove or Boveda bags solve the problem for most.
Glass trumps plastic for preserving smell and bud.

I would get some Grove Bags and heat seal them up…Terps and Trichs stay perfect like this…
You can as @DEEPDIVERDAVE is suggesting too…I have jars Ive used before the Groves and that’s good too.As far a sealing them in seal-a- Meal type bags and removing all the air…Like I said above Groves sealed per their recommendation will work great!

@DEEPDIVERDAVE @AL_GREEN ok thanks so if I’m understanding you all correct leave my bud in the mason jars I’ve ordered the 2 quart grove bags so put the jar into the grove bags and how do u seal the grove bags? do u use the seal a meal to heat seal them or are they done another way? and after heat sealing should they be placed in fridge? or freezer??? and approximately how long will they stay good for? again thanks you all and any more further info would be helpful

You can do either or… I would take the buds out of the mason Jars and put them in the appropriate size bags for how much weight you have. Or you can leave them in the Mason Jars . Grove Bag website has specific instructions on how they recommend storage…If I remember correctly you are to leave about 25% space at the top of the bags (do not squish the air out) and then heat seal beyond the zipper.I think the recommended storage is in a cool dark dry space about 65 F or less…Some have reported that their weed stayed good for years…It all depends. Hope that helps.

I use Grove bags for curing and long term storage. I’ve had some flower in the bags for 14-18 months and still maintaining 58-62% :love_you_gesture:

I stabilize RH at 60% in Mason jars, then put a vacuum on each jar with a Foodsaver.

I keep my flower in an old, NON frost-free freezer (defrost cycle is a no-no) and have some I put down 5 years ago that is still as fresh as when it went in. Mason jars with Saran wrap pulled over the mouth of the jar before seal and ring are installed.

This maintains the best terpene profile which inevitably degrades over time at higher temperatures.

I seal mine, then put it in a cardboard box in the freezer. But speaking of this subject, I had a guy tell me recently that he puts a pinch of " fruit fresh " in a corner of the bag so he doesn’t smoke it. He swears it helps maintain color and taste. I have no idea but am amazed at the things folks try nowadays.

My project this summer is to build a refrigerator into a slow bud cure machine as out of all the methods the last thirty years to dry and cure cannibis, this process looks the most promising at preserving terps, taste and most importantly THC.

Freezer/fridge needs to be on.

I store my flower in jars in a NON frost-free freezer. Got some in there that’s been stored for 4 years and still potent and as fresh as it went in.
