She’s definitely getting close, but without a view of the trichomes I can’t say for sure. It looks like her pistils still have a bit of retracting to do. My best guess would be sometime in the next week or two.
Last night the temps here dropped into the 40’s for the first time this season. Recently it’s remained in the 60’s almost every night, and that’s a big change. So I had to stay up tweeking the locations of the probes and playing with the settings to make sure my heaters would kick on if necessary. I can’t go to sleep until I know everything will stay on point in there overnight.
I topped everyone except the 2 Sour Stomper x Forum Stompers. Those 2 are doing well, but they just don’t have the vigor that the rest of them do. I’ll update the journal in a little bit. Right now the cats are demanding attention, they get pissed when I spend a lot of time in the grow room, lol.
@Cap_Ron
Your girls look good. I’m having the same issue with temperature change as well. it hit 71° in the tent last night. I’m not going to make any changes until the tent drops below 70
As far as big girl goes, I’m going to stick to the plan. She’s eating a reduced ec600 and Sunday she’ll go to straight H2O for another 7 to 10 days I’m really not even going to bother with anything for two full weeks. Then I’ll see if I see any amber in her tricone. I’d say as far as her hair goes she’s 70% dark in about 80% hairs turned in. I think 2 weeks is a good time frame for her. I think worst case you’ll get an extra week of H20 feed.
@Cap_Ron
Starting tomorrow Monday morning big girl and her midget sister start the H2O diet. I’m out distilled & rainwater so I’m forced to use RO water this week. I want to say the pH on it is somewhere around 5.4 this is okay to use as is?
Both big girl and her derr midget sister will definitely go over 100 days as neither of them look ready or even close to it. As far as my eyes can tell everything is still clear
So is it okay to give them H2O for the next two weeks?
The R/O water is fine to use plain, no pH testing or adjustment necessary. I typically do one week of reduced strength feeding and then one week of plain water, but If you want to do 2 weeks of plain, that’s fine also, lot’s of people do it that way.
@Cap_Ron
Thank you. Doesn’t really matter how I do it I just want to make sure I’m doing it right doesn’t look like there’s a right way or a wrong way. On the two girls in question, their buds are so big I don’t want them any bigger I won’t be able to fit them in the doorway to the drying room.
I am a little disappointed with the Do-Si-Dos big girl. She seems to not want to progress in bud production I think I’m going to have a monster tree of baby popcorn buds. Her twin sisters buds are getting close to soda can size. I can’t make her grow. I guess I can only prevent further stress. But she looks like she’s locked in stress mode for over a month
The girl you’re disappointed with might or might not have anything to do with the stress she went through. Once in a great while we see an auto that grows great but kicks out Ruderalis style buds for some reason. Luckily, it’s only once in a great while, because there doesn’t seem to be an easy way of spotting it until you reach the point where you’re just wondering why the buds aren’t getting bigger.
So you might be dealing with one of those, and if that’s the case, there’s nothing you could have done differently that would have changed it. Usually, if it’s stress related they bounce back and kick into gear again.
Bummer. I definitely seem strange to be in a stress mood for that long when you’re that big. I didn’t realize she would take on her ancestors Ruderalis genetics other than autoflowering. It is what it is. I’ll ride it out
the worst thing that can happen would have already happened. Can’t cry over spilled buds
@Cap_Ron
Big girl and her sister you are 89 days old today. Checking again last night in the pitch dark with a flashlight and a times 30 magnifying glass her trichomes are all still clear as far as I can tell.
Her midget sister that never got any bigger than a foot and a half has pinecone size buds. However the bud still have a long white hairs so I don’t think she’s anywhere near close. Below is a shot of her bud
If I recall correctly the big girl popped out of the dirt June 22nd around noon. Knowing that I had another one in there after 24 hours later on June 23rd I went fishing for the seed. Sure enough the stick filled Happy Frog soil had her blocked from coming out of the dirt by an almost tic-tac-toe-shaped stick. I nursed her for 2 weeks in a Solo cup transplanted her back and she never grew any taller for another 2 weeks. Knowing she was a stun midget she’s never gotten any bigger than a foot and a half. However she’s filled with big ass buds and she is the sister of the giant big girl. After that I’ve always cleaned all the sticks up around the center of the pot so this wouldn’t happen again
Some people actually prefer the shorter autos because they’re easier to handle and the buds usually get huge!
Over the years I’ve had a few that stayed pretty short, and they all yielded great for their size.
I actually have two of them. Both are well under two feet and both have beautiful huge buds. I think big girl’s sister will yield about an ounce. The other midget I have maybe three quarters of an ounce. The fact that they only eat once maybe twice at the most a week they’re worth keeping. Not very much expense there. Out of the nine plants that I have big girls the only one that eats every day. I give everybody else a day of oxygen. Then I feed them again. Everybody’s happy and healthy so it seems to be working
@Cap_Ron
On the base nutrients from advanced as you know I use a b and c. I bought them in 1 ltr bottles. Additives I bought in 500 ml size. I just had to reorder a b and c as I hate to run out of anything and they were at less than half. I’m assuming that a nine plant full tent grow will go through three quarters of a b and c.
I also got a liter of big bud. So basically what I use is…
ABC base
2.) B-52
bug candy
4.) Big bud
Voodoo juice
I also use a very good concentrate of seaweed kelp extract in every feed.
From the list above of advanced nutrients is there anything else that you think I’m shorting myself of not having? The reason I’m asked I’m starting to prepare for the next grow and I just want to have everything prior to.
Don’t be surprised if the buds on those little girls weigh more than you’re expecting. Sometimes those squat plants have far more dense buds than average. You won’t notice it until you’re trimming, and they make a different sound when you drop the finished buds in your trim tray. When you hear a thump as they hit the bin, you know you got dense nugs, lol.
The only other things I use that you don’t have are Silica and Yucca. Silica helps in a few ways. It makes for thicker and stronger stems and stalks, and it also helps the plant deal with temperature and light extremes.
The Yucca is a wetting agent. It reduces the surface tension of the water, and helps make sure your water/feeding solution makes it’s way through all areas of the soil and doesn’t leave dry spots.
I use the NPK Industries brand for both. I get the silica in the 8oz size because I use a few teaspoons at a time, but the Yucca I only use 1/16 to 1/8 of a teaspoon at a time, so the 2oz bag lasts a very long time.
I have no complaints about how well Voodoo Juice works, it’s a great product, but it’s too expensive in my opinion.
I used to use Voodoo Juice, Piranha, and Tarantula, but the 3 together equal a frigging car payment, lol. So a few years ago I asked the owner of my local grow store for a good alternative. He suggested Photosynthesis Plus by Microbe Life Hydroponics. I gave it try on my next grow and I felt if anything I saw better results. So I use the Photosynthesis Plus and also Vegetable & Fruit Yield Enhancer instead of the Advanced Nutrients products.
WOW i can get a 32 oz bottle of the stuff you use for $24 that’s the same price of 500 ml of Voodoo juice. I didn’t order Voodoo juice so that’s a good thing all I ordered was big buds Bud Candy and the ABC base. Thank you for the wonderful savings tip
@Cap_Ron
Last question, (I promise) I just took big girl out to feed her. I had to put her in a different position in the room. I snapped a picture I wanted her to lower buds. It came out very good. Can you tell what color these trying cones are?
