I’m looking for a heater for my 4x6 room but not thrilled about the idea of a space heater running in my basement while im sound asleep. Any input would be greatly appreciated
A lot of folks use an oil-filled heater and a fan.
Like you I was not thrilled with running a heater so here’s what I did: 300 watt aquarium heater (submersible) and a 5 gallon bucket and lid. Filled the bucket, set the heater at 80F and put the lid on. If you needed to add humidity to the space, take the lid off and refill as needed.
That put off much heat? My room can get as low as mid 50s with lights off on the really cold days. You think that would be enough?
I’m just ordered a small 700 watt oil filled. Hoping to set on low and use my temp controller to stay between 60-80. Dipped to low 40s this morn in the room😁
What brand? Most of the ones I’m seeing are 1500 to 2000 watts but I dont want anything that big
Same here, we use 2 1800s around the house this time of year and no knew that was to big. Go to the eBay and search 700 watt oil filled heater. You will see the same white one over and over around $45. I watched it then got an offer for $41 the next morning. If ya can’t find it let me know and I’ll find a way to get ya there.
They work really well. I have one in each of my 3 grow spaces. I always keep a fan blowing above it so the heat doesn’t accumulate in one spot.
The prices went up a lot. I bought my 3 for about 35 or 40 bucks each a few years ago. I just found a few of them on Amazon but they’re 60 bucks now.
Oil filled heater. Raised 3 kids and dogs using them. Will not start a fire. Can knock over and just turns off. Natural airflow from heat differences.
1500 is good. Dimmable. That will also double as a room heater if need for family. Worth it. They last forever.
How much does it cost to run an oil filled heater?
Almost nothing. No moving parts. Super cheap. @Bluntsmoke
I have something like this in our tent. works well keeps tent 73-79 temps at darktime 66-69 which in the basement is OK with it being 15-21 temp outside with 40-45 wind blowing Cold
I like it because it has a built in thermostat , I set it to 72 and that is where the temp stays
This is what I have hooked up to an inkbird thermometer and it’s awesome.
Same here and it’s doing great
Good to hear. If you need a humidifier there was a good one recommended to me from someone on this site and it is equally as awesome. Has a controller built in
Right on, thanks
