I am going to plant my new auto grand daddy purple seedlings in fabric 1 gal pots to start and place them on my deck. My question is will these grow outside? I have 4 GG autos that are 7 foot tall and just vegging and are 5 months old.
So yes, they can 100% grow outside. Some even start inside in the spring, then bring them outside. My only advice is that unlike photos, you may want to plant autos in their final pots. (assuming you aren’t going to keep them in 1 gallon pots) They don’t have the time to recover to shock like photos do.
If your gonna pot up from the 1gallon fabric bags to something like a 5gallon you can just put it right in and the roots will grow right through it
Big thanks, I will get them going and see what takes place.
Ok, thats makes good sense, I will place them in 5 gal fabric pots from their solo cups then and watch closely. Here in Northern Illinois we still have a good 90 plus days of decent weather at least we have had in the past from July 1st to late October.
How do you have plants outside for 5 months in Illinois? lol I’m in Northbrook IL and we’ve had some strange weather this year. Cold for a few weeks, then super hot, then cooler but humid, etc etc.
Credit to you my friend. I didn’t think growing outside in IL was possible. Might look into it next year.
I started these in early March and left them in my tent until May 24th then moved them outside to my deck, yea I had to bring them in a number of times due to the crap weather but they are now around 6 ft tall and still vegging, these are GG autos. I just moved them today to the fence area in the pic.
@OooWee1184 @thunder1951 this must be the Illinois thread… northern Illinois myself…I tried to start a few Bruce banners for outside a month ago and they all flopped. So here’s my deck girl, just under 3 weeks old fastbuds forbidden runt
Holy crap are they tall!!!
I bet she does well, the natural elements will do her well.
What I don’t understand is how there autos and not flowering yet at all still that’s amazing when they finally start flowering you should get monster yield for autos haha
Yes dude join the legion and grow under the sun! If we can grow weed outside in Vermonts crazy weather I’m sure you can do it in IL
Ever have a really great tomato? I’ll betcha it was grown in dirt in a garden outdoors in the summer. That’s how stuff tastes the best! Weed too! Dirt and sun, man it makes everything taste awesome
You started these in March? It’s July 1st. Are these ILGM seeds? As they are Photos my friend.
April May June is 90 days you should be harvesting yet your still in Veg? Hmmmm something ain’t right. No way it’s auto in my opinion as I got a few look just like them and they photos and are just now starting the flower stage.
Cause they aint
Thunder1951, nice looking plants you have there. In ca mine were 11 ft 3 and buds the size of my fist!
One pic in there is Blue Dream
Oh, wow! Beautiful!
Question, do you and @Pinboy keep them in direct or indirect sunlight? Trying to figure out the best spot in my backyard for next year
Yeah, we’ve had some nuts-o weather. I actually started some sunflowers (for the wife) in the tent and brought them outside. They’re thriving now. Couldn’t imagine if I had brought them out earlier than June though.
Haha I was gonna ask that too. How do autos stay in veg for 5 months?
@OldSkool – Trimming those must be a nightmare lol. I’d plan 3 days at harvest time just to trim haha
I hear you, I bought the GG autos from ILGM back in February , now they said they were autos on my invoice but hey someone in picking the seeds could have made an error and sent me photos. So at this point I will just take care of them and hope for the best. I have been trimming some fan leaves on them but not pruning as they say don’t prune autos. If they don’t flower when the season changes to fall I will mulch them up and give them back to the earth.
Where my plants are they get morning sun for about 4 hours then afternoon sun for about 8 hours
so yea they are periods of full sun but not all 15 hours.
