Can autos be grown outside?

I am an out door grower that lets nature produce my yummy bits of goodness
It’s late summer here in Oz and my girls are transitioning beautifully and now that long painful wait begins :rofl::rofl:

Was talking with a friend, and we contemplating Autos next season as they don’t seem to need as much time to produce…is it possible to grow Autos out doors where there is no controlling the hours of daylight the plants get??

I know it’s probably a sillly question to ask, but am always up for experimenting :grinning::grinning:

I will never have a grow house, so that will never be an option

TIA…all advice ce on here has been so so helpful

Yeah they can grow outside. Hours of sunlight doesn’t matter cuz it’s gonna flower at week 4-6 anyway no matter what the light schedule is. They’re more resistant to mold and pests too usually. I’ve never grown mine outdoors but I do know it can be done, it’s just recommend to do it indoors cuz u can control everything

P.S. u can always just get a tent, u don’t need a greenhouse. I’ve got a 2.5’ x 2.5’ x 5.2’ and a 4’ x 4’ x 6.2’ tent I’m gonna set up once I get a new light for it and my dad’s got one literally the size of a small room, I think it’s an 8’ x 8’ x 6.5’

Wow, those are huge :joy: I would luv to grow something that big. I’m gonna switch to photos once I set up the bigger tent and keep the smaller one for autos year round. That’s a beautiful harvest u got coming to u tho, great job

Thanks for that, I am quite new to growing but love to experiment. They are Aussie Blue and AK-47, the first time I have grown from the seed bank… all my others have been unknowns…they are about 5’10" tall and just budding up now…when I learn to tie down I think they will be massive next year…and am gonna try Fimming too. The furtheredt plant as away was my first attempt at topping and it’s clone is nearly 4 ’:rofl:

I honestly just tied mines down today, I wanted to open her up a little bit and let the light hit her everywhere and get some more air circulation. She was really tight before that

Have an AK-47 in a pot which is thick

I tried fimming my last grow with the Girl Scout Cookie Extreme auto but I missed I guess :man_shrugging: I thought I did it right too. It didn’t stunt her at all tho or slow her growth down in anyway. I’m new too, this is only my second grow, they’ve both been autos. I have an absurd amount of amnesia haze, white Russian, blue dream and super Skunk photo seeds my dad gave me, I’m talking hundreds of each probably. I grabb the Supermix Auto pack from here, and I’m gonna grab the sweet mix pack soon and some LA Confidential photo seeds from here once my taxes come in

Damn they really do look great. They are a solid green all over. I used some twine I got from ace hardware, it’s probably not the best to use, might be a little rough honestly, but I baby my girl and I’m usually super gentle with her so I make sure the twine doesn’t dig into her skin at all.

Nice lot of seeds!!

This is my second grow properly too, so must be doing something right…but am always trying to learn more, and this site is the place to learn

My unknown seeds smelt like skunk (the house reeked when I dried them out in the wardrobes :rofl::rofl:)
So I have three of those in pots as back up…originally 5 but two ended up boys

Nice, u should be set for a while too then. I would imagine ur gonna pull alot outta those plants u have going right now, I’ll be honest tho, far as autos, even outside I don’t think they’ll get as big as the ones u got right now only cuz they’re gonna flower like I said no matter what between weeks 4-6. They will be nice tho and probably alot bigger than people usually see cuz it’s usually done indoors

Will give it a go next year cos if the speed…can prob get two crops in

This year’s plants went in start of September and won’t be read til middle end of may…I am not a very patient girl ROFL :rofl:

Be interesting to see how big autos get in the ground as I am paranoid by the size of these ladies

Definitely curious to see the outcome. I’ll be sure to follow along when u do if u post it here

Will def do
Just gotta do some more research to get best yield
EG: best time if year etc and best seed
I do know the climate here in my part of Oz is better suited to sativas
