Flowering Cycle

Quick question. I am on my 3rd grow and in the 4th week of flowering. Should I limit the number of times I trim the large fan leaves? At this point I have been trimming them before their 2nd feeding each week. Is that excessive? Not sure if that helps the flowering process or hurts it. Appreciate the help.

Do you have pictures to share?

It sounds excessive to me. My philosophy is to only trim fan leaves if they in the way, either in the way of light getting to bud sites or in the way of proper airflow. I try to tuck fan leaves first, and if that won’t work then I will pluck them. Fan leaves are important for photosynthesis and can act as a reserve for some nutrients if the plant isn’t getting enough.

The first is a Blue Dream Autoflower. I think I have a bad batch of seeds. Nothing but trouble with them.

The second is a GSC Extreme.

The 3rd is a Purple Punch.

Trim only as necessary to maintain good airflow within the plant’s canopy. The plant otherwise needs its leaves.

They look great.

For the first two, I think they’re pretty good. Maybe take the top two fan leaves, to open up light to the rest of the plant and stimulate more growth on the lower bud sites.

Thank you sir. I do appreciate the feedback. My last 2 grows my buds weren’t thick and didn’t have a lot of weight to them, so maybe that’s my problem, I am trimming to much.

I agree with @MidwestGuy
Only trim to keep good airflow.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate the feedback. I hope to have better harvest this time around. HAPPY GROWING!!!
