Growing gorilla glue auto there at the start of day 6 day 5 they started to turn a lime green color so I decided to feed them some nutes, I water them every other day with about a half gallon each ph 6. Light is 18 inches from them at 25% per manufactures recommendation light schedule 20-4 temp between 72-80. Humidity around 60-70%. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong here. There 5 gallon pots, coco perlite
They shouldn’t need any nutes at all yet. Also it seems that your overwatering by quite a bit. What soil is that?
It’s coco with perlite, which lacks nutrients it’s not a regular soil. How much water do you think I should be giving them? I started them out in a large container which I’ve seen is a no no but I’m not to big on transplanting

Any thoughts?
I agree, starting a seedling off in a big pot can stunt root growth of the plant. And you should be thinking cups of water not gallons. Wet/dry cycles, put you finger in the dirt up to your first knuckle. If dry then water, if wet or damp then don’t. During this stage focus the watering around the base of the seedling. Do not worry about watering the entire cloth bag of dirt right now. Even though you are using soil with no nutes your seedling was was born from seed with all the nutes it needs for the first couple weeks. Neon green is good color for a seedling, so just relax and enjoy her journey. O, one more thing, she looks a bit lanky (long in the stock) so you might want to lower the light just a bit. Have fun!
As other have said, I would cut way back on watering. When there that small I water with a spray bottle so you can get the water to just the seedling. No need to water all the soil. And I know what light manufacturers suggest, but I’ve always turned my light up to 100%. Just keep it about 24 inches above the plants.
Put a clear solo cup over them, mist the inside of the cup so the leaves can absorb the moisture and feed the seedlings. Remove daily for fresh air. What nutrient line are you using? Realistically the seed/husk has enough nutrients to get them through the seedling stage (12-14 days). Water about 8 ounces every other day in a ring a couple of inches outside the clear dome, this will promote the roots to stretch out seeking water
Thanks for the input, I checked the ppfd it’s reading around 250 from 18in it’s a spider farmer se 7000 you don’t think it could burn them at 100% from 24th he’s away?
I dont quite agree with what the others said about pot size because it is an AUTO not a PHOTO. In autos i see a lot of people on here just put the seeds into damp grow medium and let them pop up on their own in final pots. Havent seen many use over 5 gallon pots but it surely isnt ucommon and i dont believe it will cause any root issues as people who start the grow in their final container avoid the transplant shock and possible root damage. This is very important as it is an auto and can change to flower unpredictably whether issues are present or not. Its hard to overwater in coco coir but then again it is a seedling. That being said try to dial in your environment and light if needed then get a watering schedule down. I like to start my seedlings with a cracked shell and taproot showing placed into a damp growing medium then i will keep a dome over the top and just mist not water for many days until the planters or solo cups in my case are very light then i will start watering around the edges until runoff and repeat anytime they get light
little seedlings in a big pot and with autos timing is everything. You want as much up front root and plant growth as possible the first 24-32 days and starting a seed in a big pot makes this difficult and growth is slowed essentially stalling growth and a stunted plant in flower. I start all the autos I grow in solo cups to get as much root growth as possible the 1st 14 days then into a 3 gallon forever home
just my method though and works for me. Agree on the coco statement 100%
I’m getting very conflicting information, so do I water these every other day with about half gallon with 10-20 percent runoff? Also would you start nutes at this time? There in coco perlite which was told has zero nutes
Hey bud, you may wanna consider the frequency in which your watering the half gallon everyother day is to much. The 1/2 gallon most likely wouldnt be that big of a deal with your setup as coco /perlite/and fabric pots will dry quickalso keep in mi d the plants at this stage are barley consuming any water through its roots and more from the humidity and leaves. Dont give nutes quite yet theyre not even a week old yet id wait another 5 or so days and reasses. Hope that helps bestbof luck bud
Are the pots light when you are watering? If your going by pot weight and its very light before you water then just keep up what your doing until you see any issues. Ive personally never grown autos. Ive grown strictly photos in coco from the start and had a few experiments with dwc and drip irrigation. When i personally grow i will start them in solo cups then go to 1 gals and then final pot. If your watering to runoff now then next time you water get a feel for the watered weight then everytime you go to water keep checking the weight. Usually when its time to water it feels light as a feather compared to wet weight
Coco should not be left to dry out, keep it damp and I start watering/feeding to run off when I get the 4th-5th node. Feed at 500 PPMs and 5.8 PH
any medium shouldnt be left to fully dry out. But how they doin?
I always start my autos out in their forever pot. 5 gallon smart pots. Sometimes they are just a bit funny. Leave her alone, she looks fine to me. No nutes yet, you’ll chance burning her.
Best advice I can give with autos is to ignore them, keep your temps in the 70s humidity in the 60s and don’t go crazy with the water. Rite now, just mist the soil maybe once a day. Later on water every 3 to 4 days. Shouldn’t have to start nutes until she starts to flower. About 4 weeks or so.
he is growing in raw coco needs nutrients right away
So I lowered the light to 12in which I think helped the stretching but i have a feeling they needs nutes I raised the humidity over 70% which seemed to help the lime green color I was seeing from them. Haven’t watered them much either 3-4oz of spray bottle per. Doesn’t seem they should be progressing this slow for day 9 above soil
