I’m growing Northern Lights Auto in coco filled 5 gallon bags in a 2x2 tent with humdistat set at 70% and temp set to 75F.
I started 3 seeds in distilled water overnight then into damp paper towels in a zip lock bag for germination. All 3 seemed to sprout but after 4 days only 1 had a root worth mentioning (1/2"). Even after a week there didn’t seem to be any further growth so I went ahead and planted them in the coco. I watered the coco just around where the sprout was. No food given yet.
After a weekend, only the sprout with the decent root broke the surface. I couldn’t even find the other 2 when I went gently digging for them. No idea what happened to them. That was 3 weeks ago and now the only surviving sprout is only about 3/4-1" tall. I’ll try to post a picture. It seems to be developing leaves but I expected much faster growth than this. I have been watering about every other day with light nutrients.
No nutrients. With most cannabis soils you won’t need nutrients for 4 to 6 weeks after your last transplant. Seedlings in particular need virtually no added nutrients until the cotyledon leaves have withered.
Thanks for the advise. Guess I got to eager and wanted to see some growth. Should I try to flush the nutes out or just start watering with plain water from here out until the cotyledon leaves fall off?
Yes, plain water. I don’t know that I would flush. Seedlings are pretty sensitive to having wet feet. She only needs a few ml of water a day at this point.
She probably won’t need nutes for many weeks. What soil will you be growing her in?
@Covertgrower I’m attaching a pic of the nutes I bought. The label suggests 2 ml/gal of the CalMag and 1 ml/gal of the other three for the seedling stage. I can’t tell you how much water I’m giving but I keep the coco moist without getting the leaves wet. Usually every other day or so. I pH the distilled water to 5.5-6.5 before adding the nutes. I have the SF-1000 LED light about 12" from the seedling right now. It was at least double that distance away until late last week when I moved it closer.
