To start this off I’d like to say hello and long time no see! I’m sorry I haven’t been here in a while. I’d like to thank the community for all the help theyve given me and to everybody who helped me on here for my first grows back in 2020. I took a long hiatus from growing as I didn’t really have a good space for it and between work and life it just wasn’t optimal. Over the summer I was able to attempt my first ever outdoor grow with some OG KUSH (here’s a picture of that)
The OG kush turned out OK but was severely degraded in the cure as everything started to mold during a 4 day rainstorm and when I cut it down a lot of it was already infected. Shame. Still yielded about 1 lb dry.
(One of the larger colas unaffected by mold.)
Anyway, it really got the fire in me to start my grow again. And unfortunately the time I was able to finally get a space set up and get my grow going, it was well into winter and I was working on a budget to get supplies. My grow environment and build consists of this.
A gorilla lite 4x4
A sonofarm sf4000
I have a 4 inch in-line fan with a carbon filter from vivosun, however the model I’m using is an older one and they no longer sell it. Any 4-6 inch in-line fan should do, and more modern ones will certainly be better. I’ll be upgrading soon.
I also use a Govee tower heater since it’s cold.
And a Govee humidifier since it’s dry in the winter.
I have both the humidifier and the heater hooked up to a govee branded Bluetooth hydrothygrometer and set the environment automatically through an app on my iPhone.
Ideally I’m trying to maintain a temperature of around 77 degrees with an RH between 50-60% the hydrothygrometer from Govee also measured VPD and currently the vpd in the room rest between 1.29 and 1.49 which is ideal for me since I have flowering autos in the tent.
However, it wasn’t always this way. At the start of the grow I was in such a hurry to get my beans in the ground, I put them in the tent before I could get the environment dialed in and I think I suffered a bit for it.
(The earliest set up circa Jan 14, 2024)
I have a Honeywell heater as well as vivosun humidifier in there which are both great options but for the size of the tent and the ability to automate the environment I opted to go with the Govee.
Here are some photos of the grow leading up to now
(Shortly after they all sprouted)
(This is about 7 days later, January 19 I’ve added in second set of big devil xl autos from sweet seeds but they haven’t popped yet.)
(Day one of life for the new autos! Jan 22)
(Another picture a few days later as the seedlings start to develop)
(Photos of the big devil xl seedlings up close that same day)
Now here is when things get tricky. I now had to leave to go to Miami for 4 days to work. I I believe I overwatered all of my plants before leaving which is detrimental to auto flowers. But what can you do, don’t Pull it until it’s dead I say!
(A picture of the tent about 4 days ago February 12)
It’s clear to me that some things have been stunted. Which brings us to right now.
we are currently at about week 4-5 into the first pop. I’ve been working a lot aSo I had an issue about a week ago when my tent lost power for almost 11 hours. It stunted the flowering autos and stressed my plants a bit but what’re you gonna do. Right now this is where we are at.
These are big devil auto xl by sweet seeds (stunted)(Jan 13)
Big devil auto xl by sweet seeds, but it was younger and in veg and is bouncing back better than their sisters.(jan 23)
These are blueberry (jan12)and golden pineapple. (Jan 11)
The blueberry is doing great and everybody is thriving, the golden pineapple is responding great to training, but can anybody tell me what this deficiency is? I’m tempted to believe it’s iron.
Picture of the deficiency
right now this is where it is! I hope some of you might follow along and be able to share some wisdom with me, like for example am I correct in thinking this is an iron deficiency in the golden pineapple? And I hope that maybe some new growers can follow along with me and maybe learn from
My mistakes or find something valuable out of this. I’m not a professional grower, I don’t have all of the top of the line gear just yet, and despite having started to grow back in 2020 I’ve only ever really completed 2 indoor grows. So I’m brand new to this, and I hope this is a fun and enjoyable learning experience for everyone. I know it is for me!
Here’s my growing medium mixture and nutrient mixture.
I start all my seedlings in coco pucks.
30% FF0F
60% HP PRO MIX
10% perlite and lava rock
I use the recommended amount of Gaia green 4-4-4 dry amendments when mixing the soil as well as down to earth fish bone meal and alfalfa meal and two full bags of worm castings.
When transplanting the seedlings, I sprinkle super myko at the root zone and water in with dechlorinated PHd water.
Since I’m trying to grow organic these are all the nutrients I will need until I’m ready to go into flower. Going into flower I will be too dressing the soil with Red Sea bird guano (full dose) and watering it in with RAW potassium at half the recommended feeding. When watering in for the first time with fresh amendments, around week 4-5, I will also be using real growers recharge tea to boost the microbes in the soil. All of my amendments can purchased on Amazon.
THANK YOU!!
