Drying advice needed

First timer here from the hot and humid southeast with about a month from my first harvest. The only place I have to dry is a garage which will probably be in the 80’s as far as temp and gawd knows how humid. My thought is either buy a grow tent or make a box out of styrofoam sheets, but either way I need a/c of some sort and humidity control. Any suggestions on the best type of unit to get that is reasonably priced. There are several on Amazon in the $300 range but I would like some guidance.

I would look into a wine fridge set your temperature and manage humidity, maybe a Wi-Fi thermometer you can view and get alerts through your phone.

Had not thought of that. Any reason a full size fridge would not work? I have an old one I keep in the barn to age venison. Make a hanging system, put a small fan in it and a pan of water if humidity gets low?

Biggest thing with a standard size fridge is the highest temperatures they can go are normally in the high 40s, and they must be very clean or the flowers will absorb smells and tastes. It definitely can be done but takes longer, it’s called cold cure drying, look it up and make your own decision.

Typically 3 weeks in paper bags and they are ready to be placed in jars.
It does take longer but you can also have consistent year round results.

I live in the southeast. A garage should be fine as long as its dark and has a little airflow. You want just a little bit of airflow, not much. Its 85 today and my flower room only got up to 76 with lights out with 60% rh. Just check em every 24 hour and after day 4 start checking every 12.

If it were me, I’d try the fridge idea on the warmest setting possible. If you already have it, why not try it.

What type of AC are you looking at? Window? Portable?

I definitely don’t want my bud smelling like venison lol not after all the work I have put in. I was thinking a portable ac I could just put in whatever I decide to use as an enclosure.

@FrustratedFarmer go get a couple of warddrobe boxes to hang in. Poke ya some vent holes in the bottom side and put a small fan on low blowing through the box, there will be enough ventilation up top. You dont need to invest in an ac unless youre planning on using it to grow. If your going to be in a garage, just make sure there is air circulating in the garage also.
