Question about harvest/drying

So i want to start getting everything i need for the harvest qhich is in about 4 weeks. My grow room never gets below 80 degrees and right now is at 50% rh. Putting an ac in there is no an option. Is it ok to split my grow room in half and dark out half of it for the drying process? Its 5 x 6.5x 8 feet tall. I was thinking of putting a tarp and have the top half for dry and bottom half for grow while the plants are small. I can raise the humidity but have been having a real hard time lowering the temps. Any ideas?

Is there anywhere in the house or garage that gets a little cooler. 80 degrees will be a problem. Ideal is around 60 degres and 60% humidity. Some terpenes evaporate in the mid-70s.

I agree with @Riskguy.
I just got done harvesting and drying a couple weeks ago. Had it around 65 degrees with 64% rh. Sometimes topped at 68% if my heater turned off. But saving the terps are a must. My durban poison tastes so good i have my roomate burp my jars so i dont smell them and wanna smoke early. :joy::joy:

Splitting the room could work, but 80°F might be too hot for drying. You could try adding more fans or using an exhaust to cool things down. Also, make sure the tarp really separates the areas to avoid light leaks. Maybe a dehumidifier can help with humidity during drying too!

Ok so rh right now sits at 48%-53% i can raise that if needed with a humidifier. If i can mange to get an ac unit for the room would having it be 60degrees be too cold for the growing plants?? Sadly my space i do both in the same room. And i was gonna buy zipper tape to seal the room good.

The 60* may stall your current plants but save your harvest :person_shrugging:t2:
I do a lot of drying in sub par conditions and it’s not life ending but can make for a harsher smoke. That’s about all I smoke and I’m happier then a tick on a coons ear :green_heart::metal:t2:

So would it be a good compromise and get it to 70* and 60% rh?

Is your current grow photos?

Current grow is autos… and should be harvested in about 4 weeks
Next set of seeds that sprouted are autos also.

Woof, keep your grow growing, Autos don’t like whack conditions.
If you tarp half the room remember heat rises so “hang” your plants on the floor or damn close to it :green_heart::metal:t2:
Don’t sweat it much, you will still have some of the best smoke you have ever had :sunglasses:

If you could get an ac unit in there how cold would you get it? If you could get thr temp down to 68 degrees you could still flower your autos while keeping the temp down. If the humidity gets too high throw a small heater in there like i did to balance out the heat and humidity. You may have to play with it periodically and mess with the settings but its well worth saving the terps, plants, ane not having your bud dry too fast.

Also worth trying everything you can to get the best results imo. (Obviously youre on that track since youre asking for help on here)

I have my grow/dry area in the basement and i have it seperated by a tarp and a blanket to keep different diversity in temp and humidity. Worth checking into like @get_glass1 mentioned.

Ok so what im thinking now is probally blocking of a 2 x 5 side of the room and i will have 4.5 x 5 for my grow instead of top on bottom. I can get an ac in there ( wife gave me the ok to take the portable out of our room ) and i believe i can get it down to 70 no problem. And i have a cool mist humidifier to help with that also

In my opinion temp and humidity are more much important than darkness for drying and curing. Just house lights, not full sun obviously. Maybe there is another room in the house thats cooler that you could bump up the RH.
