Hi. I’m running a 5 by 5 tent in a lung room. Outside the tent I have ample but limited space. The room is climate controlled but is running a bit warm during parts of the day. I’ve got some flowering plants inside the room and am about ready to start harvesting. I’m looking for the most ideal solution.
It’s looking like one of the plants is almost ready to harvest and two aren’t far behind. I have a 4th plant which is a Cinderella that’s needing a couple more weeks from the looks of things. I also have a straw gorilla plant that’s small and in about week 4 of flower.
I can keep the lung room between 70-75 and can adjust the humidity pretty well. If it’s not the peak of the day on a hot day I can keep it the room at 72f and 45 humidity. I can also let the humidity rise and keep the temp lower more easily. I am running a 4 hour dark cycle and temps tend to spike a bit after lights on at 430 pm until about 6 when the sun gets lower in the sky. I’m in a garage that gets really hot inside.
If I am going to need to keep all the plants confined to this room I’m looking for ideas on how to best handle this situation. The garage heats up quickly inside and isn’t ventilated well. My portable ac adds to the heating issue.
I bought a small industrial high speed fan I’m going to use to try to blow the hot air out of the garage. It arrives today.
Any help is appreciated. I’m kind of leaning now towards doing this……plants that are drying are going to be hung upside down as the whole plant outside the tent in the lung room. Air circulates but no air directly on the drying plants.
If I get temp issues I’m going to lower the light intensity for that part of the day only
Once I get a second plant hung for drying I will go down to one light-as I’m running two now. This would allow for lower temps. Any and all ideas appreciated.
I’ve got a really musky basement and could do something there but that environment sucks. Not much I can do in the house as it’s normally about 72 degrees and I don’t have a spot.
I’ve thought about running a separate tent inside the larger tent but not sure that’s worth the hassle.
If you hit 80-85 you are still well in cannabis temp range. If all auto can go to 6-2 lights or 5-3. Helps control heat. But you are really in a good spot mid 70-80. I have been at 90 in summer with good harvests.
If you can drop the lung room temps to 65 and have an extra tent for drying would be ideal with an RH around 60%. A large appliance box will work in a pinch. I use a Wedryer XL now and do well with temps 68-70 when I can get and maintain that….without killing the electric bill
I can get the lung room down pretty low except for a few hours a day. Can play with the exhaust etc but I don’t know about keeping it at 65. Do you think I’m better off w flowering at like 55 humidity and drying room same humidity? Or is it a must flower humidity is lower?
I also use my wedryer mostly. When I DO hang them it is always in my 3x3 untrimmed. I use 3x3 for the really good stuff and dry trim. I have 2 plants in my wedryer right now. It is sitting by my ac vent. If do get a wedryer only get the XL or you will regret it. 60-70 degrees if hanging. 55-65%humidity. Very slight breeze not directly on plants.
1 thing to remember. Perfection is difficult. Cannabis has a pretty large environment range. Stay somewhere in it and adjust watering as needed. Drying stay in the rh. Temp may climb a touch but the rh is the key to keep the dry slower.
These are not conditions that are of any major concern. As someone stated, perfect conditions are difficult to achieve. The relative humidity in Phoenix today is 23%. So 45% is luxury compared to that and people grow in phoenix.
I would not try to adjust it. Just work with it. Cut and trim each branch and hang them like this…
Pick about 3 good sized colas and weigh them and log the weight. Weigh the same ones each day thereafter and when they weigh 50 to 60% less then place them in paper bags and let them finish drying in the paper bags. You can get lunch bags at Walmart or most grocery stores. Bags at Aldi or other places are fairly cheap to buy. Drying in a paper bag slows down the final dry and lets them dry more evenly and keeps the outer part from getting crunchy. Dont over load the bags. Enough for two layers on the bottom of the bag is good. Open the bags and check a couple times a day to let them breath, The threat of mold drops as they get dryer. A humidity meter in one or two bags will let you know how often to burp them.
This will help keep you from overshooting the dryness you want. At 45% you do have a risk of drying too much. But 45% is not so low as to make that happen too fast.
