Curing process question

Hello there, i’ve put my cut and dried canna into jars as of today. The humidity in the jars is climbing a bit still 70 to 75rh. So should i put the bud loose in a paper bag for 24hrs or just keep burping at that rh? My temps are 65-70f. Any tips would be appreciated.

I would try burping the jars several times a day and see how that works out. Paper bags are an option if that doesn’t work out.

So i should maybe try leaving the lids off for the night. I have a feeling over the course of my sleep, the rh will be in high 80’s…

80 is really high. It sounds like maybe they aren’t dry yet. Do the stems snap rather than bend?

They bend on some and on verge of snap. Could have used 12 more hours drying but my next 3 days are a write off so had to rush a wee bit…

I would take top off all night and top on all day and try to get it to 62%.

I’ve had some be that high RH and as stated I just left the lids off overnight and then back on for the day and repeated that until they were under 65%

Right on, that’s what im thinking they are in jars now in my tent with lids off. Rh in tent is 55-60 ish and temp 65. So that should bring them down over night i hope. And my girl can burp em as needed during the day thankfully. Thanks for tips , it smells like sweet candy. I can’t wait to smoke!

I’ve had some take a week or more to get RH down where I wanted them…they were thick fat dense buds and took longer than most

Ya there’s some pretty big dense nugs and i wanted to pull moister out slowly this go. So i aimed higher on temp and rh this time and had chopped after 48 hrs of dark to speed the dry and so fair so good. Just a wee bit moist still for jars but im hoping will drop tonight so i can burp em at a safe stable rh .

I would have to agree with the advice that all above have given you :v:

How long did you let it hang and dry ?

About 4 days dry time.

It’s important to get a slow dry at About 8- 10 days 68 degrees , humidity About 50 give or take . Then move on to the curing process. 4 days is not long enough to dry. If it drys too quick. You get that Hay smell and taste. Also I like a dark area with some air movement. Not blowing directly on the buds.

Ya i had in dark for 48 hours so the 5 days was enough i just pulled a day early. No hay smell at all, smells like dank candy. I had plenty of air movement and exhaust fan running. Was just curious if the paper bag method would have helped. But it seems to be working out, i will take my time next time given my schedule permits it. Damn work always getting in the way…

One thing I would like to point out is most tutorials on this tell you to jar when the branches ‘snap’. IMO this is too dry. The branches WILL snap after cure but your flower will be too dry if you use that as a metric. Also; @Not2SureYet found out you can use a black light to determine pockets of moisture in drying flower. A $10 UV flashlight works great.

Exactly that’s what happened last time so also a reason why i was hesitant to go too much longer. I wanted them to hit the jars at around 65- 70 rh and just monitor them more to keep that dank smell and freshness. I wish i had the time to try the bud wash like you suggested to others. Next time for sure! I appreciate the tip, i did put a couple of the bigger buds in a small paper bag last night and that helped. My branches where on verge of snap and some snapped…thanks for the uv tip!

Still a little damp but coming along. Got bigger buds in bag bringing em down. Can’t wait! Blueberry looking like berry goodness.

Related ? Once in jars for a month do I keep burping? More/less???

I go by smell. If the cannabis smell doesn’t seem quite right, then I’ll continue burping. When nearly cured I’ll only burp for maybe 15 minutes once a day.
