I want to parlay some good advice about a bad experience. A friend gave me some green lights, and I tried to use them to grow my marijuana plants. Half the crop was dead within days, and green fiberglass had the same exact effect on the plants. What happened here?
Plants don’t use green light at all; they reflect it. This is why the plants look green. For plants, green light is basically the absence of light. The plants weren’t necessarily damaged by the green light, but by the lack of useable light (primarily red and blue). Marijuana plants that are under a green canopy are also derived of the necessary red and blue spectrum. Green lights can be used safely during the dark period without affecting any of the plants.
