Started harvesting my baby today…this is about 1/3 of what’s on the plant. Leaving the lower branches to ripen for a few more days. This pic was taken right after bud washing.
I’m gonna let her drip dry for a couple hours then move to my drying room. I’m excited but nervous…although everything seems okay so far!
@Kat91 Plan the work, work the plan. Good harvesting to you.
@beardless awesome! Do you let yours dry on that rack the whole time?
I like your rack! I went just a little different for tent drying. Hanging herb racks, and my oven rack cuz my harvest was bigger then I was prepared for.
No. I use the rack to dry for a day or so after a bud wash. If the tent is available I will use it. Otherwise I use large cardboard boxes.
Love your setup…something like that is definitely goals for the future! And yup, dropped my next baby back in July…another Affie Auto
Beautiful and frosty as hell! Congrats on your harvest
Got a couple Afghan seeds from a friend last week, this is inspiration to get a move on with my grow. Nice job
Bud wash?
Yes. It is literally washing (more like dunk and swish) buds at harvest. It is used to remove contaminants like dust and stuff that sticks to the plant if grown indoors. And nastier stuff if grown outdoors. Bird droppings and even ash from fires etc. Additionally, an antiseptic like 3% hydrogen peroxide is added to kill known or possible mold spores.
Is the strain just afghan? I have afghan mass xxl auto beans by 00seeds was wondering if it could be the sam strain
I think it’s just regular Afghan…got them from ILGM and that’s what they said they were, at least
Day 1 post harvest: moved branches from clothes drying rack onto open metal shelving. Kept RH around 45% yesterday to facilitate initial drying after bud wash. Today I busted out the humidifier to bring RH up to 55-60 range. I also have an oscillating tower fan going (pointed away from buds). Does this sound good? Also, what temperature should I be aiming for? @beardless @Docnraq @HeyJB
68-75 temp wise. Any warmer affects overall quality and increases potential of bud rot mildews and molds id kick it up to around 65%rh shoot for 10-14 day dry. Slower the better. Be sure to circulate air above and/or below but not on the plants.
I was shooting for 60 degrees with 60 RH while drying. Worked splendidly.
Interested in how this goes. I bought some of these for my next grow. It will be my second grow.
