Many variables go into yield Growmie, environmental conditions, lighting, nutrients and genetics. A longer veg with training will yield more than a quick veg. ![]()
yep, learned that the hard way.
What do you mean by training?
Generally how I learn as well, sometimes it’s painful sometimes it’s not ![]()
Can someone explain the process of growing from clones please?
I normally pull anywhere from 3-5 oz dry weight from 3 gal. 5 gal about the same but more to the higher side. Second time doing autos in a 7-gal as I always thought it was pointless and the one plant I had in there last auto run was a flop. Got like 2oz. So will see this time if it was me or the genetics so doing multiple in 7gal
Other than starting a clone by taking cuttings and rooting them, which takes 10 to 14 days, the actual grow is no different than from seed. Its still a cannabis plant.

When I am topping or just looking for a good clone, I look for this. Trim it up, cut the fans back so not so heavy and use a bit of rooting powder and pop her in the cup.
Can you clone an auto? Never tried that. I remember looking into it and reading that it to was unpredictable due to the auto genes. So never tried ot.
You can, but the clone will begin to flower at the same time the plant does. Cloning does not start the clock over so you wind up with a 3 or 4 inch flowering nub.
Its best just to leave the them on the plant and let it flower there.
Experienced growers don’t typically clone autos.
You got that from the bottom of the plant? Or that’s the part that did not flower any buds?
I have used my trimmings from clean up of the undercarriage to practice cloning on my autos.
First, they do flower, most bud grown will better than what would have been produced by leaving alone.
Every once in awhile, one does its own thing.
Arachnid Pie, mother and clone. Mom almost done, clone 2ft and looking very promising.
Took clipping, went straight to 6 inch pot str8 coco and jacks 321 at 250 ppm. She took off.
That particular cutting came from a topping. But the structure is what I look for. I cut off the nodes, cut below that node on a 45° and apply the rooting powder and plant it. I think I have a pic of one right after planted. looking…
plant inlower right is a clone, the other upper right is from seed.
So interesting that on the 4 GDP, the 2-3 gallons are starting to show signs of preflower, the 5 gallon is looking all so pretty and the 7 gallon is lagging behind. But the two 3 gal are starting to get white hairs.
I use these two meters together to determine if my soil will be fertile enough for flowere stage since I top dressed last week. Autos have been in veg state for 4 weeks. The 2/3gal of GDP have flipped. The 5 and seven have not. I decided to LST the majority with clips, one I did half clips and half ties, another just ties and 2 I will just let grow. I know different strains which is why I’m doing different ways. If the plant looks like it will be compact I will just let it grow on it’s own as those tend to keep somewhat of an even canopy. I will send pictures later after they recover for a couple of days and turn back up.
@Dirtydabber how do you check the ph of your liquid nutrients, or your water? Both of those are for soil not liquids.
Hate to tell you Grow Bro but those meters will let you know the soil moisture level at best. A TDS pen would be needed to check the soil TDS (concentration) for available nutrients. Those are extremely inaccurate for testing PH as well ![]()
Actually they give you more information then that. If used correctly. The 4-in-1 is pretty accurate when it comes to the Nutrients so long as you understand how to work and read it. The Burpee fertility will read accurate if the soil is able to support flower. If your soil is set for leafy vegetables it won’t read as fertile. I’ve been using the meters for a couple grows and before I put my fait in them I checked the measurements against my digital meter. I grow in my mixture that I build up and have learned how to separate out the meameants. Before I top dressed last week neither meter registered fertility in the first 4 inches, and are measuring it now since everything has had time to mix in both meters are registering. I will agree that some of them are trash but these have been consistent. Yes I grow in my own soil and all I have to do is PH and water. But I will every once and a while do a coco mix. I did so and used the meters only to track nutes and so long as you know what you are using you will be fine. No it won’t tell you you have to .uch of this are that, but if you have already measured out your nutes this will help you see if you have too much or too little. So like I said earlier depending on what you are doing. Since all I have to worry about is top dressing once nutes reading get too low it’s perfect for organic growing this meter is worthless to me.
Actually you can stick the 4-in 1 directly into your solution. A good way to do it is mix everything and when you use your other meter to measure yoir feed stick the 4-in-1 meter straight into the solution. The Burpee meter is meant for soil only and will read super high if you do this but the 4-in-1 will measure exactly. It is important to clean after every use and not let nutes dry on the meter.
Merry Christmas!
