2 weeks to harvest - just used Neem oil for 1st time ever - pros/cons

Hi, I’ve been dealing with powdery mildew and the closer I get to harvest the more it’s been increasing. I’ve been cutting off the leaves, wiping down with alcohol. Tonight, I gave in and used Neem oil…now I’m terribly concerned. Stupidly didn’t bother to check forums went with my nursery and basic plant info…I’ve grown for decades, know how to wash in hydrogen peroxide and water afterwards…but I guess I was feeling lazy. I am 1-2 weeks out from harvest. What can I do to save the taste of the buds…ride it out? OR maybe wash tomorrow with bronner’s and water??? Thanks!!!

Welcome to forum
I have used milk with water 40/60 on powdery mildew.
Works well for me.

Thank you Hastonbutcher, I’ve used milk and wather when I lived in Cali and it was nice and warm. . I’m up on a cold mountain in the snow so I was trying to use something that would dry quickly…now I’m quite concerned i’ve affected months of work…

Welcome @MsLocke you can lightly wash after to stop decolourisation and to get off colas it say on back not to use if flowering I had a scale problem with mine I used a paint brush and brush on stems away from flowers.

I use Neem oil, I’ve no problem with any pest problems, such as spider :spider: mites, I use it as a preventative measure though, spraying the base of both my grows, the outside of the tent, but not directly on the plant.

Smoking buds that have been treated with neem oil can “cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain”

Further side effects also include “ increased salivation, diarrhea, liver toxicity, and convulsions

Really depends on how much is in/on the plant you smoke

Not positive, neets oil is to be used upto flowering stage and discontinued once flowering begins.
Its early snd someone will chime in.

Personally I would rather smoke buds that were washed with peroxide to remove mildew than smoke anything sprayed with neem oil. Not that I would want to do either. I trashed a Black widow and every Gelatto clone I had last summer due to mildew.(WPM).Sometimes it is best to cut your losses and start over. We only have one set of lungs.

Some people will disagree but neem oil is pretty useless  I’ve no idea why theres some much info online saying its the go to thing :man_facepalming:
Bud wash with water and h202 after harvest is your best bet to remove as much as possible…

Of course absolutely no one wants to smoke mildew but ever single plant humans consume in any way eating or smoking can be and is exposed to these things at some point.

We wash our vegetables and things we eat and bud is really no different…

It sucks i know, but it dosen’t have to be catastrophic, try not to stress over it and just give them a good wash after harvest and they will be fine

I’m medicated now so my brains working :sweat_smile:

But welcome and rest easy that you want lose your harvest. Give it a good wash and it will be nice and clean.
It want hurt potency and theres tons of videos on YouTube to walk you through it if you need them but its basically just a nice “rinse” rather then a “wash”.
Want hurt it anymore then a light rain on any outdoor grow :+1:

Thank you SO very much! I will check out fresh videos, conquered “washing” years ago (super scary the first time lol) so I’ll just be gentle on them and me!!! Rinsing sounds far less painful.

Thanks Derwyn86, I love the thought of using a paintbrush in the future!

Some of us have purchased the EcoOne machine and have had really good results from the spray. Or you could buy it already made, Agrowlite.

No. It’s a spray for your plants.

This is what I’ve used on my grows (greenhouse and tent) with great results. I just got done spraying my GG4 down with my current tent grow right before lights go off with fans off for the night. I try and spray once a week as a preventative measure. You can use it all the way to day of harvest. Growers Ally Crop defender is a miticide, fungicide and insecticide all in one without having sprayers laying around with different products to spray at different times.
