1st Time grower - 12 days from seed

Hello! Just popping in to see if my girls are on the right track. I am a first time grower and have 2 Mystic Gorilla Autoflowers going. They are 12 days from popping seed in the soil. Doing 22/2 light schedule and no nutrients, just recharge. I did top 1 just as an experiment as there is a ton of back and forth on this topic in the community. Figured the only way to learn is to try and fail, but hopefully succeed. I see a ton of pictures saying they should look this way or that way etc, so just wanting get some input on if they are looking good for their age. Thanks in advance !

Welcome to the forum! Your plants look good for 12 days. They seem happy. They are a little smaller than I like to top…but weed is resilient

Good to know ! Thanks for the feedback. So many opinions out there, do it at 3rd node, do it at 5th node, etc so I wasn’t super sure when to do it. Definitely taking notes and seeing what works and what doesn’t. Also wasnt sure if the 5 gallon grow bags were sufficient ?

For inside I do either 5-gallon or 7-gallon bags. You should be able to get a very nice plant in a 5-gallon bag…they are also slightly less heavy…my back is not getting and better as I age.

Oh for sure ! Definitely a manageable size when handling them.

That is a nice start for an auto, the topping should be no problem. I top my autos above the 5th if they are healthy by day 21 or so. Good luck on your grow :+1:.

Looks good for 12 days, I don’t top autos because of stressing or other problems, autos don’t forgive mistakes or bad timing, they will make you pay. I’m currently growing Fruity Pebble’s autos, nearing harvest. Be careful not to overwater, especially at this size and age. Just post any questions you might have and one of the awesome growers on here will gladly help. Good luck, happy growing , and welcome to the forum. I’ll tag you in my journal, have a look around, hope you find something useful!

Seems like some interesting techniques there. I may have to get daring if I choose to move forward with future grows! I grow garden roses so this is a little bit different

Not exactly sure what you mean, but I enjoy a good party so hopefully the girls will as well. Cheers!

This is what I’ve read as well. Topping being a taboo topic has this allure about it and I was sucked in. Hopefully she will forgive me in abundance. Thanks for the info !

If you want to train and top them, I’d recommend feminized photo plants. They train well and you can let them recover from training and flip them at peak health. Photos…
