1st Time grower - 12 days from seed

Update. 18 days from seed. Girls seem to be happy so far. Hoping to see some upward growth soon. Maybe they are just destined to be short and wide which would be fine. Any suggestions how to encourage upward growth besides raising the lights? Or will they shoot up during flowering? Also, they have giant fan leaves, over 7 inches long, they take up a ton of space. At what point, if at all, should I remove them to open up the canopy a bit? Thanks so much for the help !

Also I am using a A150SE 150 watt light from vivosun. I have it on 80% strength for 22 hours and it is about 24 inches from top of plants.

You could try cutting light back down to 65-70% and see if they start reaching for the light. May work but as said Auto’s have they own game going on. And welcome to the forum.

Update on the girls. They are still doing fantastic ! I believe they are in ‘preflowering’ right as of today, so I am super excited for this next phase as I have been watching, taking notes and noticing all sorts of neat patterns of growth thus far. Also, she did not like the light on 100% output so some of her ends got a bit burnt but it hasnt slowed her down.

On that note, she is growing faster and more vigorous than her counterpart which is funny because I topped her and also broke off 2 large branches while being a bit too aggressive with tying her down. To those who say the more handsy pruning methods are not good for autos, this lady would beg to differ. Will be interesting to see if the same results will be had on other grows and strains moving forward

Stop!!! Really flowering ??? If so, this is so exciting ! Yours look like mine too  ! So you are doing photos, how long will your ladies take to get through flowering, or how long till they are fully ready ?

I flipped them last weekend, this Saturday is two weeks of pre flower. At that time the white pistols will start to form little hedgehog buds and will be officially in flower. The first two weeks is the pre flower stretch. Most strains I grow flower for eight weeks and are ready for harvest. I harvest by trichomes appearance.

Neat ! This is all new to me so it’s interesting to hear what everyone is doing as I only know what I have read about. I can’t wait to get to the trichrome party as I love using my loupe on just about everything of interest. Would love to get your feedback when that time comes just to be sure I am pulling them at peak.

Keep in mind that stressors sometimes will cause plants to flower much sooner.

No your good! Not from NZ, from the states. I have heard its beautiful over there. I actually figured I shouldn’t actually have posted a picture of myself in this kind of forum  Anyhow, I appreciate all the help and input as I navigate this fun project !

I thought the same thing about my girls, I realized patience is key as they grow fast and in a few days I knew she was definitely a lady. Give it a day or two!
