Which One is Truist? To Feed or Not to Feed?

Ok. So I’m getting ready to put these 2 Auto Tangie Seeds into dirt, provided they’ve finally popped-it’s been since Thursday now- and I am making my Grow Notes since these are to be my 1st Autos. I am finding lots of conflicting information and need clarification. The first thing I’ve come upon is this…One site says,

‘Most soils contains proper Nutrients to give Autos enough food to sustain them until the end of Vegetation. If you notice yellow leaves before Flowering, start feeding but with a light dose, increasing with each feeding if plants are handling it well’.

Another site says,

‘Wben they get their 1st true set of leaves, they need to be fed like Photos in Veg State. When it’s growing fast it needs Nutes. 1/2 Dose unless bushy, then a full dose’.

My next question is will likely add to this thread and it will also be about feeding schedules. Ie; amounts per week number because I already know I have like 6 different charts that are different. I’m thinking to go with what my Nute maker says but at 1/2 doses.

Thanks you guys!!!

That is the question, weather it is nobler in deed to suffer the slings and arrows of great misfortune ect.

So maybe this should have been one of my, ‘What do you do and have proven results from’ threads? Lol!

Autos are great. I would follow your chart that applies to the nutrients your using. As to when you start depends on the soil you are using. Fox farm soils are pretty hot with nutes already and doesn’t need help feeding your plants for around 4 weeks. Good luck with your grow

Thanks man. That’s how I was leaning into it.

As far as growing goes, and I have grown both autos and photos, I see no difference in growing either. They sprout, veg, then they flower. Only difference in the plant is the auto will flower on its own as the photo wants shorter lighting hours. The feeding is no different. Once the auto starts to flower then feed it under the flowering schedule. All the conflicting info probably comes from all the differing soils and nutrient lines. Once I quit jumping around and stuck with a single line of nutes and the same soil then my problems disappeared. Instead of switching nutes to solve a problem, I learned to adjust the nutes to fix the problem.
Just my thoughts.

I went hydroponic and it made my life so much easier, with 3 times the yield. No more watering problems or nutrients problem. Just get the ph right and change my water every 7-10 days. This was my first grow in the system and only my 4th ever grow

Super Skunk autos from ILGM

Only real way to know when to feed is by testing your runoff or a slurry sample. Hopefully you got a ec meter. I used to get about 3 weeks in a ocean forest transplant before needing feeding. 2 weeks in a solo cup at most from seed. Again this is fox farms soil and not all the same.

Much easier to give exact soils, no guessing

One piece of advice mentioned about yellowing at end of veg sounds like a super soil self feeding water only.

Knowing your soil eliminates generic replies.

As with the various bags of soils offered thru FFarms.
Exact nutes to be used eliminates dozens of feed charts to the exact one.

Help us help you.

@Spiney_norman Excellent advice, Dear Sir. However, I will not be buying Lowe’s soil anymore. Lol! I do like the feel of this stuff I got from WalMart as it is light and fluffy with lots of mossy material. Idk? It just feels good to the touch and has a good earthy scent that’s actually pretty pleasant. I will be with General Hydro for a while at least. I really like their website and purchased a bunch of their chems, then a guy gave me a bunch more, in gallon size. I am learning, and happy about it.

@John7 Dude! That is sweet. I have a friend looking into making some type of barrel set up for me. I forget what it’s called. Has tubs that hook together with hose and each tub has a circulator and aerator attached. Not sure really. Saw it online and he said he can build it so we shall see.

Thanks y’all! I have one more question that occured to last night. What about pot size for the Autos? I would guess since they mature faster that I wouldn’t need pots as big? But could be the opposite or the same. What have y’all found with regard to root size and necessary space and soil for auto roots?

Some say nothing less than 5 gal. I’ve seen nice plants on this forum in 3 gal that prove that theory wrong. So I’m going to say nothing less than 3. I use 5 gal. I transplant 1 time from sprout straight to the 5 gallon. It great your having a hydro system built. I’m sure you will love it. They grow much bigger and so fast.
