I have my plants in Happy Frog potting soil (7 gallon containers) and they have been doing pretty well. Some say with HF you do not need to worry about adding nutrients. Is this true? If not what should I pick up and feed them? As always many thanks in advance
HF is generally good for ~4 weeks from your last transplant.
The best way to manage nutrients is to get yourself a PPM meter and manage feedling to appropriate PPMs for cannabis.
The Fox Farm Trio or Jack’s 321 are good cannabis fertilizers.

Yikes I am well past 4 weeks since they were put in these bags.
Being in 7 gal bags, you COULD still be ok. But like @MidwestGuy says, you need to check the ppm on the run off to determine when they are hungry. As you get more grow under your belt, you’ll start to let the leaves of the plant give ideas as to what’s going on.
I use Fox Farms trio. About 1/3 of the recommended dose to start. This is where the tds/ppm pen comes into real play.

Yup, what @Dave101 said! Lol! That paints a more complete picture to help diagnose any problems you may be having, and sometimes prevent problems from happening.
I used trio on last grow, it went well so I also added the soluble ferts. Open sesame, beastie blooms, and cha ching. Only at open sesame stage but these plants have a ton more bud sights and tops at this stage then last grow. Gotta attribute it to the open sessame.

The support ticket is a great guide for creating progression charts and records for your grow. All the info needed to diagnose issues is the same info you would want to be tracking as your grow progresses.

Almost not until flower. I als0o recommend although it is probably too late. Get a better nutrient system than the Foxfarm Trio. Everyone has trouble dialing it in even in FF soil. Spend the extra money and get Canna nutrients ro somethi8ng… If oyu need some help finding a good nutrient, I can look around and see what is available. I make my own nutrient blend, so I have not looked at the market in a while since Monsanot bought out GH 3 part, and Botanicare (shich I love). Let me know.
I use only Fox Farm and the brand new soil is good for 4 to 6 weeks. Then you need to start using nutrients. FFHF and FFOF is two different versions of how you do nutrients.
So from what I’m reading, 4ish weeks for HF and 6ish for OF before starting the Trio?
As @latewood said, this is a Fox Farm feeding chart, it’s quite a bit to take n, but it’s one of the many examples every nute maker puts out. It helps to get as much info from the people here on the forum, everyone will help, so it’s imperative to give as much info as possible. Every plant does it’s own thing, so the charts n nute info r more generalized, n not set n stone. It seems like a lot, but the more info, n pics u provide, the more we can hopefully help u find ur path, n what works for u.

So here you go. This is for FFHF actual feeding chart.
Now this is for FFOF actual feeding chart.
I use Fox Farms only. Once you figure it out, its actually simple. Now if you compare it to say Jacks 321….Jacks is easier than FF.
I figured how to use FF in less than 5 seconds. Long as you know when it broke surface, then you know which week you are in. I don’t know about the FFHF feeding chart since I only used it to top dress the FFOF soil.
So I would probably use the Soil chart and not the FFHF chart.
With this in mind, for the Trio of Big Bloom, Grow Big and Tiger Bloom is easy.
Week 4:
Big Bloom = 3 tsp
Grow Big = 3 tsp
This is for 1 gallon of water. You feed twice a week according to FF. Me…I make the gallon up no more than 1/2 dose for 1 gallon. I ease the plants into the Nutrient water. This means every time I water the plants get fed a whole week.
Then I toss whats left and switch to the next week. Rinse and repeat. When they flower I am using full strength.

Once my two young plants were ready to transplant into a self-contained grow container (City Picker) I used Fox Farms Ocean Forest and mixed in a small amount each of composted cow manure, peat moss, blood meal and garden lime. The fertilizer strip is an all purpose slow release 10-10-10. They took off and never slowed down. The only thing I have done is feed each plant a small amount of heavily diluted Recharge once a week during the vegetive stage and only once, midway, during flowering stage. (This is my first grow, and they are in a 2.3x2.3’ grow tent.) Today is day 45 in flowering stage and the two girls are full of fattening buds laden with clear crystal trichomes.
I have a 3rd plant (my second grow) I transplanted to a 3-gallon nursery pot using the same growing medium but in smaller quantity, adjusting to smaller size container, and set outdoors now that days are warmer. It immediately took off, growing 1-1/2 to 2” a day.
