. I have never had a truly successful grow. My finish is always light and airy… Was using a donated led, it was dimmable , but didn’t know when and how to adjust it. Now have a sider farm 2000. I also added a small humidifier 2 x 4 tent. Just need some poimters. I have a few holes, trying to figure out why.
Holes are usually from bugs. Check after lights out with a flashlight, especially under leaves. I’ve never used the gh line but others I know had success using lucas formula over the factory suggestions.
Growing cannabis successfully can be both rewarding and challenging. Let’s address some common factors that might contribute to light and airy buds, as well as provide pointers for improving your grow:
Lighting:
Quality and Intensity: Insufficient or poor-quality lighting during the flowering stage can lead to airy buds. Make sure your Spider Farmer SF2000 LED light is appropriately positioned and provides adequate intensity.
Adjustment: Since you now have a dimmable light, adjust it according to the growth stage. During flowering, increase the light intensity to encourage dense bud development.
Nutrient Imbalance: Follow the General Hydroponics (GH) feed chart, but also pay attention to your plant’s specific needs. Overfeeding or underfeeding can result in suboptimal bud formation.
Monitor PPM/TDS: Regularly check the nutrient solution’s PPM (parts per million) or TDS (total dissolved solids) to ensure it aligns with your plant’s requirements.
GH Flora line can lower the pH of your water. Make sure you are in the correct pH for the medium you are growing in.
Humidity Levels: High humidity during late flowering can cause airy buds. Reduce humidity to around 45% in the last few weeks before harvest to enhance resin production and bud density.
Temperature: Maintain a consistent temperature range (around 20-26°C during the day and 20-22°C at night) to support healthy bud development.
Airflow and Ventilation:
Proper Air Circulation: Ensure good airflow within your tent. Stagnant air can lead to mold and mildew, affecting bud quality.
Ventilation System: Do you have an exhaust fan properly renewing the air in your tent?
Medium and Watering:
What are you growing in? What water are you using?
Genetics:
Some strains naturally produce fluffier buds due to their genetics. If you consistently encounter this issue, consider trying different strains known for denser buds.
Observation and Adaptation:
Monitor Your Plants: Regularly observe your plants for signs of stress, nutrient deficiencies, or pests.
Adapt and Learn: Each grow is a learning experience. Adjust your approach based on how your plants respond.
Remember that growing cannabis involves a combination of science, art, and intuition. Keep experimenting, fine-tune your techniques, and don’t hesitate to seek advice from experienced growers. Best of luck with your current grow!
As long as you keep the temps below 80F , don’t let your medium get too dry and are replenishing the air with fresh outside air you can push Cannabis a bit with light intensity.
Here’s a good video about the latest techniques.
For me, Coco with no additions other than perlite works best. The air pockets that coco will naturally have gives the roots plenty of oxygen which they love. The addition of peat changes the the whole dynamic. Water retention is different, soil structure is different, pH needs change. I personally would suggest next time just use plain coco coir and pH your solution to 5.8 and see what happens.
The leaf issues look like what happens to mine when I set the fan too close and the leaves bang into each other.
