Waxwing Grows: Lemon Auto Organic

Fujitsubo now lives in darkness. Yugao has taken her place in the Big Tent, and she will be chopped soon. Here are the others:

Is that… Yugao? Could it be? Let’s take a closer look!

Hot damn!

Fujitsubo got the chop two days ago and is hanging in the little tent. Life goes on unchanged in the 4x4.

Congrats on the harvest :partying_face::partying_face:

Thanks mate; the yield was paltry, failing to fill a Mason jar, but she smokes good 'n tasty.

A generic update:

Sorry for the few weeks’ absence, fellas- had some camera trouble and other responsibilities in the way.
One of the plants- Ukifune? I really should have gone to the bother of giving them name tags- is almost ready for the chop, and has been in the dark for two days now. The others are probably not too far behind, although they haven’t grown as much as I’d have hoped in the past month.
Up next will be another batch of autoflowers, probably the last I’ll document here as I may be moving within the next year and things will be all shaken up. I plan to do four plants total, two each of two strains; here are the strains in the running:
-Blackberry
-Gorilla Cookies
-Blueberry Cookies
-Red Super Skunk
-Galactic Grape
-Zkittlez OG
I’ve got no strong lean among these! I’m looking for quick turnaround time and pleasant flavors above anything else, which has me leaning toward the Blackberry and the Galactic Grape, but if anyone wants to weigh in on these, it would be welcome.

This is the view with all the lights on. Looking at the two, you wouldn’t know one was quite a bit younger; they will probably be ready at the same time or close to it. I’m pleased with the spread of Murasaki, the leggy one in back, but I expected her buds to fluff up a lot more; the trichomes are coming along but with how little meat there is on those bones I don’t expect a bumper crop. Hopes are a little higher for the other one, Yugao, who is small but is bulking up nicely and seems to be of finer genetic stock than Murasaki.

Today I trimmed Ukifune and moved Murasaki into darkness; for a brief period Yugao is alone in the 4x4. But the new batch is in the works- germination begins for two seeds each of GORILLA COOKIES and BLACKBERRY, both auto strains.

Murasaki has been chopped and it’s her turn to hang in the 2x2. Yugao is not far behind, and is on an all-water diet until the smaller tent is free. Here’s how she looks up close:

But she’s no longer alone in the big tent; the four newcomers have been moved to cups of damp coco, and now flank Yugao- Gorilla Cookies on the left, Blackberry on the right. The GC seeds have shown great vigor so far and I can’t wait to see how things proceed for them and their little roommates!

Oh snap. Exciting times. Right there with you except ones in solos going outdoors

I was out of town for a few days, and came back to the lovely sight of three of the four seedlings above ground; hopefully the second Blackberry will emerge in a day or two, but if not I can easily replace her.
Murasaki, who was cut down around ten days ago, is now crisp to the touch; I’ll trim her tomorrow. Meanwhile it’s time for Yugao’s final run, two or three dark days before she too is felled. Therefore right now the tent looks like this:

Here’s a final trichome shot of Yugao. Look how purple she’s gotten!

Yugao too has been chopped; now it’s just the new batch. That second Blackberry never emerged, and I’d like to keep things rolling and fill up the tent, so I started germinating a replacement- a Zkittlez OG auto sample from Barney’s Farm.
I turned off my dehumidifier and my secondary light (the blurple LED) to make things easier for the seedlings and to save a little power.

At last everything is sprouting! We can see the little Zkittlez gal finally peeking through:

The big pot is something unexpected- basil! I’ve been really enjoying pesto of late and the basil plant is supposedly an easy grow; my living situation doesn’t have a good windowbox (the cat will ravage it) so at least for now that crop is stationed with the other.

It’s not as exciting as a certain other plant we all love, but it’s nice to put these farming skills to use for something more wholesome, and watching them burst into life is just as satisfying as when Mary Jane does it. To be honest I have no idea how big the basil will grow or if there will be tension between it and the other plants; time will tell!

It’s again looking like not everyone will make it; the Zkittlez has been slow to emerge, and one of the Glue girls is very frail. Hence two new germinations- the two “Galactic Grape” autofem seeds I was gifted in a recent order. I realize this confounds the bookkeeping somewhat as I can no longer use “GG” to refer to a single thing (Galactic Grape or Gorilla Glue?), but what can ya do.

Meanwhile, the greater Glue and the Blackberry are both thriving, and both have been transplanted:

As usual they’re now in a mix of coco and perlite, and a thin membrane of Mykos was added to the new grow bags before moving the plants. The last of the previous batch, Yugao, has been fully trimmed, leaving only the young plants in the grow room; as such I turned off the dehumidifier and am letting humidity hover naturally around 55%.

Here’s where things are now.

That’s a Blackberry on the left and a Gorilla Glue on the right. I’m disappointed by how many failures there have been among the latest batch of seeds- only one each of the Glue and BB made it, though I planted two of each, and my one Zkittlez seed from Barney’s Farm failed entirely. Supposedly excellent genetics, lost for no good reason. Here’s what happened to the second Glue:

She emerged but struggled to cast off the shell casing, and when she’d done so she was extremely frail. I’ve kept giving her some water in hopes of things improving, but by now it’s clear that ship won’t come in.

Meanwhile the two Galactic Grape scabs are thriving in their plastic cups- that’s the tomb of the Zkittlez between them, and of course the basil in the back, green and alive but taking its time.
The two big girls can now handle at least a gallon a piece on watering day! Here’s hoping the two Grapes can stay on track; then we’re in for a fine grow.

It finally occurred to me to start training the bigger plants.

The wire was added less than 24 hours ago; see how they already bend around it! Incredible creatures.

I finally removed the cups with the duds (the Zkittlez and the second Glue). The Galactic Grape seedlings are moving along and very soon it will be time to relocate them. Meanwhile the basil shows slow but pleasing growth.

The arrangement soaked up two full gallons of Jack’s 3-2-1 water yesterday and are only getting thirstier.

Today I moved the bigger Grape to a new palace, added nametags (we’ll see how well they hold up), and replaced the blurple secondary light with the Spider Farmer board that had been collecting dust. I realize it slipped my mind at any point to top the Glue or Blackberry; I’ll have to be sure to make room for this step for the Grapes, as it makes a real difference!
