I have tempered my expectations. I’m not looking for a crazy yield, but it would be cool to make the most out of what I can. I’m shooting for 6oz for two plants which I think is pretty doable.
I’ll be using GH nutrients in Fox Farms Happy Frog with 25% perlite added in because that’s what my garden store guy recommended. If all goes well though I wanna try Jack’s but… that’s gonna be far enough down the road that I’ll just cross that bridge when I get there.
I ordered some seeds online and just got through germination and planted one of them (SSH) in their final 5gal fabric home. Working on the NL now. The time difference is negligible and they’re autos so I’m not pressed over a few days or even a week if it’s not viable.
My temps are floating @ 79 - 85F during the day with a 5 deg difference through the night. RH hits 40 - 50 ranges.
I’ll likely end up tagging some gurus if I get stuck. I’ve been reading a lot of threads on this forum, so I’m always down for some sage advice from people who have been doing this for a while.

Welcome to the community. You will lose 75% to 80% during the drying process. To get 6oz is going to be a stretch for a first time grower. Its a huge learning curve till you zero in your grow style.
Heard. A pal can dream, but I’m glad I’m knowing this now instead of later lol. It would be extra cool, but again I’ll temper my expectations. Tbh, if I can get enough to hold me over during my next grow I’ll be happy
Better to know now rather learn a hard lesson later. But as your growing skills progress, so does your total output with the right gear. Lights being #1 then nutrient line.

Yeah I’ve been learning that lights are the real deal. I’m starting low key now but I think that’ll be the big upgrade when things start moving along for me.

I’ve got one girl about 3” tall and another one I’m trying to keep alive. I thing she’s gonna make it. She’s just barely above the rapid rooter top. Both tails came out good and both put into rapid rooter at the same.
The one that is taking it’s time, got pushed down into the rr a little too hard. I think almost killed it.
You’ve got the right mindset. Fish for realistic expectations, shoot for the moon. One simple piece of advice that might help is this…
When you see anything (charts, photos, or links to important articles post them here in your journal for safe keeping and easy reference. Having one thread will make your life way easier.
I have gh trio and jacks i can try and do a comparison here on the same strain of jacks and gh in coco grown in michigan and see what happens. Was supposed to use the gh for my outside garden but that is not happening as i used some ffof mixed in the ground and the garden seems to be doing hella good this year. Learning to grow pot made me a better tomato grower lol

That’s good advice. I realize that there’s just a whole wealth of knowledge around growing well beyond me, so anything to help keep things simple and organized is a win.
It’s also a major boon that everyone has been wholesome af, even in other journals.
Being so new at this I’m not quite sure what to take with a grain of salt just yet, but everyone just is out to make sure everyone else is getting maximum buds and I’m here for it lol.
Funny thing is… not everyone’s growing style is even remotely the same. Some things you’ll hear others swear by some will say kills every plant they’ve grown. Obviously there are some tried and true methods.
Find the journals that are growing they way you intend to and read up. Ask. Research. Done of the growers around here are super analytical and provide the science behind why they grow the way they do. You’ll have to find what works for you.
Big true. Ive been looking at other small space auto flower growers using gh, so I’m glad I’m on the right track. Especially soil growers since I know growing in coco or hydro can be wayyy different.
The thing that shocked me most in my research is how resilient the plant can be but also how it truly is an art to shoot for the moon I’ll be happy if I can even get to harvest time.
I’ll go with Dutch for her Amsterdam roots.
