I was a little worried at first because it took a little longer than the first seed to crack, but after some decent taproot growth in germ, I just planted Dutch today.
Now off to work.

Just adding my experience I’m on second grow. My first was one photo indoors and I got 5 ounces off of it i know it’s not an auto but I was happy with it being a new grower. And with fox farm I’ve heard ocean forest burns autos or is too hot. I’ve got 5 girl scouts autos and havnt had a problem with that. they are currently a few weeks into flower. Just like everyone said not everything will work for you the soil I mentioned is a prime example of different results for different growers. Good luck!
Yo! I got scared of ocean forest after everyone told me how hot it was, so I stuck with happy frog for now. Maybe when I start getting into photos and transplanting, OF will be the love though!
But yeah, like you guys said, different factors can give different results so I’ll keep my mind and options open! Thanks for dropping by. Good luck with the Girl Scouts
I got to say, I don’t know soil, looks pretty straight forward and easy. I found coco somewhat a challenge at first. Hydro on the other hand, is a walk in the park. I can’t imagine why anybody would not want to grow in hydro.
I understand getting your fingers dirty and stuff like that with soil, but the plants grow so much bigger in hydro.
The setup took some thought, but once you have that figured out, it’s really a breeze. I hate to see folks intimidated by hydro. I know it’s not for everyone, but those that want to grow hydro and don’t because they’re afraid of the unknowns, I’m here to tell ya, it’s easy peasy!
One day, I may just break down and do a soil grow one day just to say I did it, or didn’t… lol
I think the save thing about soil. It also gave me some buffer time before starting with nutes which I wanted to give myself.
You’ve certainly eased my anxiety about hydro. I don’t really know what it was about it other than the unknown but if you’re here telling me it’s a cake walk that I can get more out of, then it’s definitely worth a shot!
I think of all goes well this time around and I get some good buds, I’ll buy a mucosal from here and get me sober photos going in hydro!
I know I know. Baby steps.
There are so many typos
Stick around, you’ll read a lot more!..
I’ve noticed when folks get high, including myself, keyboards get smaller…
Here are the girls at the end of Week 1~
Hazel (SSH) is the bigger one who‘s about 3 days ahead of Dutch (NL).
Dutch had a bit of trouble breaking her seed but after a few drops of water on her kn the morning she ended up breaking through and is on her way with some nice and green looking leaves.
Got the end of Week 2 ad boy oh boy this is starting to get exciting and I’m not even at the good part yet…
So far I’ve only given them pH balanced with 1mL per gal of CalMag and Silica, and watered when dry. What’s nice is using Happy Frog is eating me into my so I don’t overdo it.
Started some LST with Hazel today with some safety pins and hemp cord. I didn’t want to make it tougher for the stems later, so I have them secure enough to keep the stem bending how i want, but without tying too tight. I know the stems will get a lot thicker later, and keeping it too tight would be like outgrowing a ring on a finger.
I did a little last night that I didn’t take snaps of, and supported the stem with some opposing pressure to deepen the bend a bit more. I also tucked some leaves to expose as much light as possible. There’s still one more top I want to get more light to at the bottom, but I figure there’s plenty of time for that as she grows. Just gotta make sure to remember it lol.
OH.
Check it out! AND she’s staying healthy. None of her leaves looks like they have any deficiencies and they look pretty happy with Happy Frog so far.
I’ve only now just realized how long it’s been since my last post
The girls are coming along great~
We are on Week 5 for Hazel and 4 for Dutch. Hazel (left) definitely growing nice and strong with healthy leaves. Dutch I feel like might have some wonky genes because I’ve never seen any other NL with such tiny leaves. They do end up growing out fine though. She was also a late starter so I think maybe she’s just struggle bussin. I’m still gonna see my girl through to the end.
Both started feeding at 3-4 weeks and are growing nice and healthy. The only beef I’ve got now is sketching eating lil holes in my leaves… it’s not too bad rn, but I’d love any tips for getting rid of a problem before it gets much worse.
@Covertgrower @PurpNGold74 Tell us what you know…
If something is making holes I would look for pests and purchase some captain Jack’s dead bug. Spinosad. Safe to use into flowering.
Thanks @Covertgrower
Correct me if I’m wrong, something like neam oil is not good for flowering plants right?
flowering plants is not recommended.
Thanks for the tips. I’ve tried looking for bugs but they’re either really r e a l l y tiny or I’m missing them. I mean you know, leaves don’t tear or make holes in themselves.
I think my grow store sells jacks so I’ll scoop some tomorrow.
