Hello all, I’m upgrading my lights in a 4x4 tent. I’m torn between two viperspectra xs3000 or one spider farmer se 5000. I’m leaning toward the two light setup for flexibility when plants have different growth rates. The two lights will give me 600 watts total and the sf is 480 watts. This is my 3rd grow and I’ve learned a lot from reading this forum so any guidance/advice is greatly appreciated.
Id go with the 2
Im a firm believer in shove as many watts in there as possible
I tend to agree. I read that viper doesn’t use Meanwell drivers in their xs series. They use their own brand. Meanwell seems to be the most widely used by the big name lights. Do you think that could become an issue for quality?
I dont believe so. So question did you buy these ligjts or are you thinking of buying
Personally, I like having two lights gives you a little more flexibility.
I love the even par and fit of my 4x4 Spider farmer SE 7000 it’s 750 watts. It’s a bar light with 8 bars, snug fit.
Best pic I have of it right now. But IMHO as long as you cover the watts your tent needs and the lights fit is all that matters to me, sometimes it’s good to have the extra lights as emergency.
I would recommend 2 lights, if you’re growing 2 plants and they’re at different heights you can adjust the lights individually versus a single light over a shorter plant receiving less than desirable lighting numbers ![]()
I’m thinking of buying. The viper is on sale right now so that made me look a little harder.
Wow that is a tight fit. I’ll be growing 3 at a time max. At least until I get a few more grows under my belt.
Using the ratchet hangers I can adjust to plant height or what I normally do is stack up my Pepsi crates an put the smaller plant on it until desired PPFD. But your absolutely correct with 2 lights.
Another good light to look at is szhlux. I have a 500 watt in my 4x4 and i think i could fit the 800 watt
I would also go with the 2, and with expectations of 3 plants, that is 200w per if you get the 600w option. Plenty of light.
I just pulled the trigger on 2 viper xs3000 pro. Thanks everyone for helping me decide which way to go.
