2 Grow lights in a 4X4 tent

I’m back, getting ready to start grow #3.
Got some good advice after the last. Basically, I need more light.
I have a VIVOSUN 4X4 tent, want to grow 2-3 plants. My last batch was pretty airy, because of lack of adequate lighting. I’m currently using a single VS2000 growlight.

SO I have a couple of questions:
If I get another bar, should that be adequate to hold the weight of two lights, plus the hanging filter and fan? Currently, one bar with filter/fan, one with VS2000.
Another VS2000 would be hanging on a new pole.

The second question is, would that be too much heat for the 4X4 tent? The fan is always on, vented to the outside, and heat has not been an issue before.

As always, thanks, for you time and any replies.

My last setup looked like this. Light hanging in foreground.

You want to aim for 40-50 watts per square foot :metal:

At 150 watts a piece you’ll need 4 at least

I Hang two lights exhaust fan and filter on support bars in a 4x4 TENT with no problem. HLG LIGHTS is also a great place to look .

I didn’t intend on not addressing the rest of the questions :joy::rofl:

More light = more heat. More efficient lighting will reduce the amount of heat added.

I’ll second the recommendation of HLG. They’ve been great to deal with.

Thank you for your replies. I ordered my extra hanging bar and light today. Still will be low wattage if I go with 3 plants, but I’ll give it a try. Airy buds are so unappealing.

You’re doubling the light. That’s a good thing either way. All any of us ever hope for is to get better each time. :metal:

The VS2000’s PPFD map looks like this:

Coupled with the photo of your setup, I wonder if the light’s hanging height was too great during your last grow. Adding a second light to accommodate more plants is a good idea, but I suggest you ensure their height above the canopy gives you the PPFD you want.

Reducing the height would allow you to run the lights at a lower setting, thereby compensating to some degree for the added heat from the second unit.

The VS2000 weighs 9 lb, so I doubt you need an extra bar. But – since you’ve ordered one already – it won’t hurt.

It looks as though the probe for your thermometer/hygrometer is hanging above the light. If so, you’ll find its readings more meaningful if you hang the probe at canopy level.

Isn’t the vs2000 a 200 watt light.
Thats what I’m reading anyway.
Still only 25 watts a square foot.
I think it also depends on plant size.
Another way to see it is 150 to 200 watts per plant.
3 plants 133 watts each. Close enough to give it a go. IMO

Thank you for your detailed response. I never thought of height-intensity adjustment before. I believe I was keeping it at 12" after a certain point.( I have to reread the growing instructions each time I start a new crop.)

I should have said I am growing autoflowers, so they’re pretty small in the end.
White Widow and OG Kush.

OK, yesterday my 4’ hanging bars arrived, and they were too big for the tent.
Seems my tent is actually 3’ X 3’. So I went back to my original order, and there it was: 3’ X 3’.

The good news is, 2 VS2000’s puts me within the norm for a 9 square foot space.

Little bit of a bummer that it’s been a headache… But you’re going to be happy with the final results. Congrats on getting things sorted out :metal:

And both lights will fit in it. Nice.
Just so ya know I grow 3 in a 24x36x54 inch tent. With 500 watts and sometimes I think the extra 100 is to much so I shut it off. 2x3 or 3x3 its still 3 plants.
