TRay’s grow: Black Widow and Trainreck

We got a lot of rain at the right time this year. I think if pests and birds don’t get too many, we will have a nice harvest. Fingers crossed

We don’t have peaches, but our apple trees are hanging full.

I think it’s been about 9 years since we had a good harvest commercially here in MI. I think you’re not wrong in general. We had a frost through at the wrong times in spring, and we’ve lost a lot.

We managed to make it thru March and April without a frost. All it takes is one cold night when they are in bloom to kill or stunt the blossoms. You could really smell the honeysuckle which is a good sign. We didn’t spray the tree in January this year so pests could be a problem. But so far so good! Hopefully we will be busy preserving some peaches this year.

I’m hoping for you! I know I love a good peach off a tree, as sweet as candy. Peach candy. It’s an experience that set as a core memory, and all other peaches are a disappointment from the store.. not worth the time.

Thanks bro! They are a treasure for sure. The window to harvest and do something with them is small so we gotta plan now.

TBH I don’t know which strain this tree is. We moved here in 2016 and it was already established. I asked the previous owner and he couldn’t recall what strain they planted. I do know the tree was planted in 2011. It never produced for the previous owner and we have had one really good harvest in 2018 I think?? The harvest was heavy enough to fracture a main branch.

I have often through life looked back on pawpaws peach trees :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hey growmies! The misses and me haven’t been idle this morning. We tried out the new bud trimmer that @SausageMahoney recommended on the trainwreck plant which has been drying for about five days. Good thing we tried it out, found a small bit of mold on a bud that was just starting to set in.

My comments on this device:

Quick work of the trim process. 20-30 turns and they were satisfactory. Won’t get everything but once completely dry they will be great. You lose some smokable bud in the process, but what flower you lose for smoking you gain for edibles and tea. We are currently decarbing the kief now. I’ll weigh it when its done. The trainwreck plant gave us 4.25 zips smokable and likely 4 ounces of usable kief. The house smells amazing right now - the terpine profile of this plant is lemony/piney smelling.

Checked in on the BW plant again - the soil was dry so I drenched her with Jacks at 1300~ PPM. She still needs more time. Trichromes are all over the place; clear/cloudy/amber depending on where you look.

Gotta do the lawn today.. the weather worked out with a cold front passing thru yesterday so its cooler with much dryer air.

We got the front last night, but the ground is way too wet to mow still.

Kinda like a mellow banana, not bad occasionally. Creek behind us is lined with them.

Afternoon good folks; hope you all are having a marvelous day!

Did a little something last night. I propped 35 grams of kief from the trainwreck chop in the MBM with 4 cups of ethanol. Let that sucker run for 8 hours and collected the tincture. We are going to do a double batch of cherry flavored gummies. I’m using a different recipe this time and they should be a tad bit sweeter than the last batch. Using 12 ounces of cherry jello, 2.5 ounces of unflavored gelatin, 1.25 cups of cherry juice, 1 TBS of monkfruit sweetener, 2 TBS of vanilla extract, and bit of citric acid. Should be little more appealing to the eye and palette.
