Ok, I have a very leggy 70 day old Gold Leaf that stands already at 4 + feet tall. She went into flower before I switched the lights to 12/12 and is now about 10 days into flower. I thought I had topped this one early on and she had just rebelled but I suppose that I could have possibly not topped her. Her topmost part is about 10 inches long and lined with small buds. Since I just changed the lights to 12/12 on Sunday night I am afraid if she gets much taller the lights are going to be an issue, she is getting too close to the lights
Growth should slow down now that she’s flowering. Maybe move her to one side or other (or alternate) of the light to gain some distance? Raise the light? Dig a hole? Hate to top at this point! Top colas are the best!
From my understanding is it possibe it’s an auto, which from my understanding is not to top those at all. And for a photo plant you want to give it a week to recover after you top it before you put it in flower. Any way you can do a little lst and tie them over a little
I know arpeggio. I was thinking the same thing. Her stalk is too thick and rigid for me to bend her, I tried to when I saw where this was going. If I had more room I would tie her to a pole and slowly bend her sideways until the lower colas have caught up with her. I figure if this thing fills out up top it is going to be one big ass cola and I sure would hate to lose that!
Could I super crop her just below the beginning of the buds and have the stalk form a knuckle there? I have never done that before so not sure how it would affect this main cola. I think since she just started flowering she has plenty of time to recover. @Sirsmokes, she’s a photo period plant for sure, ILGM Gold Leaf
Put a lasso on top and drag her down slowly… You can do that… Just be careful!
Is this an Autoflower by any chance?
Nope ILGM Gold Leaf, definitely photo period
The gold leaf is only feminized seed!
Before I could answer you said it for me thanks @FreakyDeekie good lookin out.
Raise the roof!
I believe to super crop you have to take clones from her in the 3rd week of flowering if you don’t mind my asking what was your light vs dark cycle to get her to flower
@Sirsmokes I think have that backwards
Monster cropping is takeing a clone from a flowering plant.
Super cropping is bending and breaking and splitting the stem , stalk , branch
Pretty much HST at its best
@FreakyDeekie I’ve supercropped before at 2 weeks into fowering with no ill effects.
If it were mine that’s what I would do. Supercrop it an inch or two above the last node before the top but proceed at your own risk.
You are correct. My bad
Scary! But maybe the best option . . .
So what is the benefit of that? I’ve heard of the stem splitting but heard to do it low at the base of the plant and only a week before harvest. So what does do up that high on her?
So for anyone who has super cropped before the question is, if I do it, should I break her enough that she can lay at about a 45 degree angle to the stem, support her with something to keep her from growing back up straight and should I put something on the area like honey and duct tape to prevent an infection and help her heal faster?
When you supercrop you gently squeeze the base of an off chute and fold it over. What happens is the plant will heal itself by creating a knuckle at the wound which allows more nutrients to flow through the stem in turn making the buds larger. It also can create multiple colas on a single branch.
This is also a way to help even out your canopy allowing the light to be more evenly dispersed to all the budsites.
That’s great so the other night when I accidently bent a stem tying one down its not going to her it but my actually benefit her. Would it benefit if it is a lower apendage also?
