Time for a new light

Ok, something I learned from the first 2 grows of GDP photo is you can grow some nice buds with cheap King led lights but now I want to see what I can grow with a better light. Before I go any farther I am retired on SS so am not rich and this is a hobby for me. ( A lot more enjoyable than making bird houses.) That being said I have a 3x3x7 vivosun tent. I am thinking a couple hundred bucks I can get away with without ending in divorce court. What is the best and why for that price range? I know it’s not a lot of money for a great light but figured this is the best place to ask for ideas.
Thanks everyone!

I saw this light someone else had posted. They were having issues with leaf curl. I looked up the light and for under $140 and there is a $25 off coupon it wasn’t too bad at all.
It looks like it would flower up to a 3x3 pretty well even though they advertise 4x4. It is a true 200 watts light with heavy PPFD coverage in the middle.
It may not be the best or optimal like some other lights but thought I’d share with you what I found out about it today.
You’ll have to be aware that you’ll need some distance in the middle of around 18-20” above the plants at full power.

It’s available on Amazon

They also offer a more powerful larger version too I just saw that’s $299 with a $50 off coupon.
Again you’ll need to have the headspace up top to keep it well above the plants in flower so you don’t fry them.

Also on the companies web site too

I only can share with you what they share as far as specs but from what I can tell it’s not too bad and the price is not too bad.

Hope this helps

What king led lights you running now?
I thinking any light for a couple hundred would be on the low end and may not be an upgrade really

If you have less then 300watt than you could very possibly see some positive results from just adding another small light to get your total watts over 300watts.
I run a spiderfarmer se3000 in a 3x3 with great results, but it’s a $300 light.

I have 2, a king LED 2000 and a King LED 1000.

The reason for the upgrade is these get hot and need a little more power. So more power and less heat.

I have a 3x3x6 tent. Been using hps light until 6 weeks or so ago.
I bought the spider farmer se3000. Really happy so far with it. It was just under $300.

If you can spend around 300

I’m not sure if this will work but it says it will flower a 3x3 and it’s Hlg

Looks like I am going to have to step up the cash a little more to $300.00. I do want to make sure whatever I get is better than the two I have together now. Thanks for the recommendations so far. Gonna make a decision in a week or so. Tent is occupied at the moment drying.

You can buy a new 400W Vivosun with the good Samsung full spectrum LEDs for about $400. I have a 3x3 also.

I took my time and bought four(4) 100W models over the course of a year or so to spread the cost out and be more palatable to my spouse.

I started with seedlings 1st grow then 2 by the end of the grow. Later, I added a 3rd for the 2nd and 3rd grows then the 4th light for the last 2 grows. Yield went up substantially with wattage

They are a very good value light in my estimation.

Whichever way you go, you will get good advice from these experiences growers.

If heat is an issue I would suggest a light with a driver that can be kept outside the tent as opposed to a light that has a fixed driver mounted to the light. The driver is were the heat happens. Have you checked Alibaba? I had a couple of Meijiu QB lights that worked well for the price. There is currently a Meijiu 600 watt light for <$200. They also have a 320 watt QB for <$130. I would post the link but I don’t believe it follows forum rules.

I don’t want to encourage superfluous consumerism… But if you’re going to spend the money for that space, you can stop messing around and jam a 450w MH TS 3000 in there as an option, which is discounted to $279 right now (direct or 3rd party).

Don’t forget everyone will have 4/20 sales as well.

For 300 bucks you can get the HLG 325 Max you can also get a 10% off code if you give them your phone number for there automated marketing texts on top of that you can also use Shop Pay to make 4 no interest bi weekly payments or break it down further to monthly payments to help the wallet out a little more but you will encounter the most interest with monthly payments

…sounds like you’re selling yourself on not buying anything based on what you are already growing.

Those flowers look fine…the grass is not always greener under the light you have not bought yet.

Totally understand :+1:
Man if you could swing the $300 for a se3000 or similar light it would solve the heat and more light output and coverage.
There very well could be something better as a full replacement for $200 that has a removable driver to help with temps or simply run cooler but idk about much improvement in light output.

If heat wasn’t an issue, you could add another 200watt light like a sf2000 to your setup for a couple a hundred.
This would be more heat and power, but potentially double your harvests each grow.

Just my thoughts anyway.

Thanks @LiesGrows I do have a green thumb that’s why I wanted to give this ganja grow a go. It worked out fine just needed a better light.

@1HappyPappy
Looks like the se3000 is in my future.

@1HappyPappy what is the difference between the se3000 and the g3000?
Look the same to me. G3000 is $50.00 cheaper.

Bridgelux vs Samsung diodes

What is the difference between the G series and SE series?

For growers who are working within a limited budget but require high returns, the G Series is the best choice. The G Series features Bridgelux diodes, while the SE Series is equipped with Samsung diodes. Both of these brands are well-known in the industry and are considered reliable. Samsung is renowned as a leading diode manufacturer, while Bridgelux is a local American manufacturer with 21 years of experience. In the picture below, we have listed the data for both the G-Series and SE-Series.
