Here we are about a month or so later, day-87 for the Alien Maui Wowie…
This time, she’s got company - I decided to use the spare 15g pot to grow some culinary basil - several nice varieties in there (genovese, red rubin, and ??). The big one is already flowering
I need to crop that back!
By day 115, Maui Girl is veggin’ like a champ. It’s been super cold here so the tent’s getting crowded ![]()
Have really not been doing too much other than watering, some light stretching exercises to spread her out, and playing some Ozzy’s Boneyard for her… she seems to like Hard & Heavy!
After vegging for quite a while, she’s been drinking a lot lately. Here’s a shot of a wilted girly
After waiting a bit for her to drink up her gallon of love-water, she perked right back up:
And got her pre-bloom clip-and-stretch:
Day 137 / two weeks into stretch she was fitting into her little see-through black thingy:
and looking pretty sexy for a young thang:
Thanks for watching!
Nice work

Time for another update on the ILGM Maui Wowie…
Day-141 did some defoliation from the long veg she had, and then used her scrog to spread her out some more…
By Day-151, which is about a month into her stretch, she’s showing some signs of yellowing…I am guessing this is a little bit of nute deficiency? I gave her some BioPhos (1/2 tsp) and coconut powder (2 tsp) with her normal watering…
Fingers crossed that helps her out. I’m not worried, she’s still snackin’-n-stackin’! ![]()
Hello again ILGM compadres…
Maui girl is continuing to drive me a little crazy - I wish she’d color up a bit better, is some of this genetics? I have been increasing her watering thinking that maybe she’s thirsty and I’m being a bad daddy? Her colors haven’t changed much. Her every 2-3 day 1g watering consists of simply R/O with 4 ml of cal-mag. Once a week, I add in 2 tsp of coconut powder. Whatcha think? Do I just keep on keepin on?
Day-166 / 43:
Thanks for watching!
Sometimes they just dont show or show very late. During the NL grow, everyone had different looking plants.
That skeleton is hilarious, is that a mermaid?
They look awesome by they way.
Mer-MAN! Its a merman “cough cough” (excuse me.. black lung)
3 hours later this is still hilarious ![]()
Heh, yeah it’s a merman, he’s the overlord of the Alien tent of good vibes.
Here’s a couple of updates on Lil’ Miss Maui Wowie:
Day-168 and the yellow scourge is in retreat - I think it’s just her thirst-sign…
And a few of the emerging buds are starting to bulk and frosty-fi…
I noticed a fruity, almost minty…spearminty aroma while I was fondling – I mean – defoliating today… ![]()
Nice job @Alien_Shore beautiful girl you have there
Lol
I’m laughing at “MERMAN” again… hilarious ![]()
Those are beautiful buds.
Howdy Growmies! ![]()
Over in @Low 's thread, he and @Budbrother chimed in on a question I had about the water I’m using. I use RO/DI water from a big vat that I have:
These are 100g vats that hold RO/DI and salt water (for one of my other hobbies!)
Since the RO vat is set up for “auto refill”, it’s easy to just pull some 1g jugs to use for my grows…haven’t really had any problems with that approach so far, but I’m only on my third grow and still pretty new at it. Anyway, their advice is good - it turns out that ultra pure water which is great for mixing up salt water for a reef tank, is not so great for watering our plants. It acts pretty much like a sponge going into nutrient rich organic soil, and can strip the soil some vital ions like CA+, Mg+, and others.
So the fix is to start pulling our jugs from the 3rd stage of our RO/DI unit, before it heads into the RO membrane. That way, most of the bad stuff is gone, but we leave the good ions that the soil and plants need from the tap water.
Anyway, thanks guys for the feedback - the girls will appreciate it, and I don’t need to add stuff back into RO/DI water before watering. Here’s a couple of pics from Day-175 / 52:
Thanks for watching!
Just beautiful… Merman!
Thank you Sir Sausgeeeege.
Welcome friends of the Maui Wowie, Alien style. ![]()
We are now in the hot days of late bloom. It is now day day 186/61 for the tropical girl. I am wondering if I have left too much of the big-sugar-momma leaves on this plant. My rationale is that leaves provide energy for bud production, so I have left them. These Maui strains seem to put out a lot of these! They are beautiful, and my girl is stackin’ up pretty well, but I think she is kinda behind where I had hoped she would be. It’s now pretty much a race of her bulking up versus getting too toasty / trichome matured… what say the experts?
Thanks for watching! ![]()
