Help with my auto I’m a newbie I have 2 Northern lights autos and they have been alive 54 days and 48 days since sprout. I’m using fox farms ocean and happy frog and using the trio nutrients from fox farms also.

Welcome
I reckon you have done a great job so far ![]()
What sort of light do you have ![]()
When you have the fan on , make sure it is not blowing directly on plants.
I’m using California lightworks SE250 and I do not point the fan towards the plants anymore TY for.your reply
Didn’t know this. I have my fans blowing directly on my plants. What harm am I doing?
I figured the air would reduce the chance of mold? I also thought it helped make the branches stronger (along with silica?)
Having a fan directly on the plant itself can cause wind burn They say you shouldn’t have it directly on the plant. Nevertheless, I have four fans directly on my grow and I’ve never had an issue with windburn. I have seen it happen to others so I don’t recommend it as well. (I just like pushing the envelope)
I have a contrary opinion. I always run a fan directly on my plants. The motion it generates forces the plant to strengthen it’s structure to withstand the constant movement. It can help prepare the plant to hold up heavy flowers.
I don’t recall ever seeing a case of wind burn in my 4 years here in the forum.
Silica is fabulous for strengthening plant cell structure.
Exactly…my outdoor girls see tons of wind where I live and no issues, and I can say that the wind they experience is far more than any little breezy fan.
Welcome to the community , nice autos .
I have fixed fan and don/t have it blowing constantly on plant because I have had windburn on plants in the past .
I have it blowing against tent wall which then disperses breeze and you can see breeze moving through plants.
My practice, as well.
TBT, I may just be getting some wind damage, so I moved the closest (5inches) plant away from oscillating tower fan (on low, 24x7).
It also depends on the strength of the fan and how much pressure its blowing onto the plants. Its good to have a fan blowing onto the canopy as it hardens it off and helps keep it cool from the heat of the lights. It helps keep constant fresh air cuirculating also. But if the fan is blowing too hard of course you will run into issues. I use the AC infinity Cloudforce fans hooked into the Pro 69 controller and just set the climate triggers to adjust the speed levels as needed. It makes it a breeze…(pun)
