Fans : how to place them / how many?

Hello!

Hope everyone is doing well!

I have 3 plants in a row like that

What would be the ideal fan placement ?

Rn I have one oscilliating directly at them, but with flowering i’m wondering it’ll be enough.

I m wondering if something like that could work:

Fan A : small one on the floor
Fan B : small one on the floor
Fan C : bigger one above canopy
Fan D : bigger one above canopy

(Dont pay attention to the proportioins, paint sux)

The idea is to create a tornado airflow and blast air under and on top of the canopy.

Or any better placement?
Should they oscilliate?
How many?

Cheers!

I have 3 fans running for 5 plants.
2 x 18 in wall mounts and a 7 inch one on the floor.
I’ve been leaving the wall mounts stationary.
( They do oscillate but not at this time )
The 7 in circulates under the canopy.
The 2 wall mounts are angled to sort of form a vortex in my room , but above the canopy under the lights. Not directly at the plants.
2 nd year like this and no issues so far.
Humidity in your room is also another factor as well.
40 ish % in later flower for me helps keep mold at bay.
:v:

They only need a gentle breeze. Don’t need the plants flapping like in a storm. Lol.
Mine are on the low setting btw.

Yea i meant a vortex!

If they do not oscilliate, would they still strengthen the stems despite no direct airflow on those at any moment?

Not quite as much as direct air flow but silica added to their diet will help strengthen the stems.
Too much air flow can cause wind burn on the leaves and that’s more detrimental than having to add a bit of support for later in flower imo.
Slows growth on the affected plants.

I’m curious what size tent you are referring to? I have a 5x5 and a couple 2x4s. In the 5x5 I have 4-6" circ fans, the back wall fans are high and the front ones are canopy height. My thought is the back ones keep pushing the warmer air off of the ceiling, and the front ones keep a gentle breeze at canopy height. My experience with trying to do this in a 2x4 tent is the plants always stretch into the top fans and the top fans take up space needed at canopy level. I end up taking the fans above the canopy and moving them down low, blowing up at the canopy. I guess point being for me is, keep access to the fans and cords open so they can be moved easily as my needs change.

I run 4 - 6” fans in my 3x5… one at the floor level, one opposite the floor fan below the canopy and then 2 in opposite corners above the canopy… might be overkill but I have plenty of circulation and hopefully shouldn’t have to ever worry about mold issues

I run one 18inch fan oscillate on four plants all you need is air flowing throughout your plants just keep it moving @Shroom happy growing my friend
