Switching from Robert bergmans nutes to foxfarm

Hey everyone,

I’m starting new nutrients for my NYC Diesel photos, and maybe my GDP and Durban Poison autos. I had it on Robert bergmans nutrients for a while but i couldn’t wait like a week to get more and just went out and got some foxfarm grow big and tiger bloom. I was planning on getting cal mag and big bloom in a few days.

Is there anything I should know about these nutrients transitioning from RB to Foxfarm?

Thanks as always!

You will be required to perform periodic flushes to address salt buildups. I would go with Jacks 321, which does not present this problem.

I will definitely have to try it out. For the time being I just went with foxfarm since it was available at my landscaping store 5 minutes down the road. My autos are about 4-5 weeks into flowering now. Do you think normal feeding until the 2 weeks before harvest flush will be okay without flushing in-between?

The intermittent flushes are required to prevent a salt buildup from submarining your pH. The flushes cannon be avoided. If you use FF nutes, then follow the FF flushing schedule. Additionally, if your runoff pH becomes unmanageable, then a flush will be warranted.

Definitely will keep that all in mind and will be tracking run off pH often. Much appreciated @MidwestGuy

Oh. I should mention this. I am using coco coir not any actual soil. Will this affect anything? Such as how often or how much to feed.

Maintain a runoff PPM of ~1,000. The main care differences between coco and soil is the watering frequency. Coco should be watered daily. Soil should be left to dry out between waterings.

Right. I just know foxfarm says water twice a week and use every other watering. Would these still apply since I’m using coco or would I use FFJ every watering every day? Or every day but every other watering?

Sorry about all the questions. I just wanna get it right before I transition.

They are assuming a soil grow.

Coco becomes hydrophobic if it dries out and must be watered daily.

That’s what I thought but really second guessed myself when I thought too much into it. I blame the sativa. Lol

Thanks again guy.

My recommendation as a former FF trio user is to feed to liberal run off like 30%. For coco you’ll do this daily or at a minimum every other day depending on the size of your vessel. I would recommend daily and monitor input and run off PH :love_you_gesture:

Definitely will start doing something to monitor it closely.

Normally I water 2 or 3 times a day in not small amounts but until the pot feels heavy and the coco is fully saturated. I usually don’t get run off and it seems like my girls love the 2 or 3 feedings a day.

I would recommend liberal run off using synthetic fertilizer Brother. The salts can accumulate in the root zone creating PH issues which will affect nutrient uptake. I speak from experience and having to flush several times to correct PH issues :love_you_gesture:

I will definitely look into it. I appreciate the heads up big time.

Any recommendations? I always like a very good one and a good but cheaper one.

Oh, before I forget. What is liberal runoff?

As said kinda…your pH pen will be of critical use.

Apera 20 makes a very reliable, accurate and inexpensive PH pen . Liberal run off as in 20-30% of what you feed from the top runs out the bottom :love_you_gesture:

Gotcha. I just recently got a new phone pen from AC infinity. It seems to be pretty good. Less than a week old.

Fox farm has a nice pamphlet for different medium for feeding and flush times.

The FF nuts are good stuff but you must pay attention! I use the Jack’s now cause I don’t want too! Pay attention I mean,LOL only half serious but the Jack’s is just so easy and reliable! I have never had an issue using the Jack’s. AND NO FLUSHHING NEEDED

Definitely going to be checking in to jacks for sure. Thanks for the heads up.

How easy is it to use? How often do you feed and have to resupply?
