Sour Diesel Auto First Time Grow

Hi Everyone! This is my first grow. They are ILGM Sour Diesel Auto’s. I have 3 plants that were all started at the same time and treated the same way and they all look different from each other and are on different time schedules as far as flowering goes. One plant, the furthest one along, the flower looks much different than the other 2 plants, I’m not sure if it’s flowering normally. All 3 sprouted Jan 6th and this particular plant started flowering Feb 9th. The flower on this particular plant has so many more leaves on it than the other 2 plants. Anyone know why? Thanks in advance. Last photo is one of the other plants. Here are the pics:

Welcome :v: looking good. It’s called phenotype. It’s how your genetic code expresses itself. Just like your siblings and yourself may not look the same even tho you have the same parents. The technically terms are genotype (bingo hopper with all your genetic possibilities) and phenotype (the genetic traits that are pulled from that bingo hopper in your specific genetic code) it doesn’t mean you did anything wrong or different from plant to plant. Just mother nature.

I had the same thing happen with my first grow last year. All the same strain grown at the same time and yet none looked liked her sisters. Simply put, genetics. Good luck and don’t hesitate to ask questions even if you think it might be a silly question. We’ve all been where you are.

Thank you!

Thank you! These forums are great, everyone is so nice. Next I will head over to the Harvest board once I receive my jeweler’s loupe, I will need help with that, I have no idea when these might be ready for harvest.

@sbgrow I’d suggest instead of a jeweler’s loupe to get a scope that you can plug into your phone or lap tap. A loupe can be difficult at times to see as clearly as you might want. Jmo

I didn’t know such a thing existed, does this look like it will do the job? https://www.amazon.com/Microscope-Bysameyee-Magnification-Endoscope-Compatible/dp/B07SR7YPV5/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=microscope+plug+into+computer&qid=1584630607&sr=8-4

Yes I dont have one, yet, but you can see trichomes much better. And not that expensive. That way when you ask if you’re ready to harvest you can post a nice clear magnified pic of her.

I received my microscope and took some photos, thanks again for the suggestion. I posted in the harvest board but will post them here too, do you think this plant is ready?

@sbgrow no problem. I’d say you’ve got at least a week. Depends on the type of high you’re looking for. You need cloudy trichomes with some amber for more of an energetic high. The more amber you’ve got the more couch lock.
You don’t want to harvest to early. Make sure you always check the trichomes on the buds and check more than a couple. I’ll tag in some more opinions. @dbrn32 @VTGROW @raustin @Nicky

You could probably take her any time now. What do pistils look like?

Thank you. I definitely don’t want couch lock, looking for the more energetic high. So I don’t have any amber yet, I need a little amber before she’s ready? It seems the trichomes higher up on the plant are further along than those lower down, how does that work when it comes time to harvest? Can I take the upper portion and leave the lower ones to mature further?

You can take the top buds and let the bottoms finish to your liking

Please excuse my ignorance, this is my first grow, but the pistils are those hair like looking things? I have looked closely and I would say they are half orange, half white.

Ya. Can you put up a pic of the whole plant? Lots of white pistils suggests she’s not done putting on weight, so you would likely want to let it go. Generally speaking, I don’t even bother checking trichs until most of my pistils have receded.
