I have 3 ILGM White Widow Autos. They’re 13 weeks old plant shapes are different but all the buds look the same as the below pics. I know clear gives you the twitchy high, milky most THC and amber gives you more bolder / cough lock high. Never done autos before just wondering if they change faster or about the same as photos? Also I know my plants are still green, I keep up with my nutes and ph like clock work. Just figured this close to harvest I should have some turning leaves?!? Plants have been on 24/7 light until Monday when my “Photo” plant started flowering durning 24/7 light?!?!?!? Now granted it’s in a room full of “Autos” putting there “fairy dust”all over it. Looking for that milky with a hint of amber. I guessing 1-2 weeks and should I continue feeding water with Black Strap or straight H2O for the remainder of it time? Thoughts, experiences?!? @MidwestGuy @Spiney_norman @beardless @Bluntsmoke @beachglass @ShockDog @MayzGAS @Support_Team @GreggT @Dave101
I still see a bunch of clear trichomes and the buds look like they need to continue filling out before you’re in the home stretch (which is a good thing)… If I am not wrong it also looks as if many of your pistils are still white. I’d say three weeks or so? Maybe a month?
Your pistols will be the indicator of when to start looking at trichomes. When most them start turning brown is when you start looking at trichomes. When I see most of the pistols start to turn is when I start my water only. JMO
I’ve heard @Docnraq say he doesn’t even start looking at trichome colors until the pistils have all turned color and then also retracted back inside the bud material. (Think that was Doc saying that, anyway.)
@NCgrower The pics seem to me to have a lot of clear triches yet. Give 'em another couple of weeks. Keep an eye on the triches that are on the buds and not the small leaves. When most of them are cloudy and you start seeing some amber ones, that’s the time to get serious and have your drying area all set up. Good luck and enjoy!
Great advice, @Darodguy. My first grow was harvested about three weeks too soon because of what I saw occurring with the trichomes on the leaves, not the bud.
So me being at 13 weeks with the autos and still aways out y’all think I my have a light issue? I had 144 watts / LED watts of full spectrum lighting. That’s like having 1440 watts “old school” watts.
Judging by your stretching I’d say you definitely have a light issue.
@ShockDog LOL Yeah, I thought I really waited, but was still a week too early.

I like to stage my harvest sometimes. Take some of the buds jumpin’ higher than the rest, feed it once and continue for another couple of weeks of just water. Hopefully to then get a majority of amber ones for my Honey.
So I just finished tying tops down to even canopy and dropped light down closer. Should hopefully help the lighting. Nothing I can do about the light at this point.
Leaves only turn color when you stop feeding nutes.
You have too many white pistils to be close to harvest. Id wager you have closer to 3 weeks to go.
Thats right, 95% of the pistils will be amber before she is done. Thats when I start l9oking at trichomes.
Another way to tell you are near harvest is by runoff. She will start eating less and this will reflect in the runoff tds over time.
The two arent related that way. Autos will do as they do, seen many go past 12 weeks. Some even as long as 17 weeks.
Your plants are a little lanky and the buds are thin, this suggests a lighting issue. What kinda light you got going on in there?
Minimum 150 watts per plant (up to 3’x3’ canopy) is recommended for best results. (50watts per sq ft.)
Don’t laugh but it’s a homemade one I made. Budget was tight so I took (2) 2’x4’ light fixtures screwed then together, put mirror tape on inside body of fixture and install (8) 18w 4’ GE LED full spectrum light tubes in it. Sob will give you tan if you hangout with girls much
Also was wondering about the Black Strap molasses. Does anyone use it and what ratio per gallon. Thanks so much guys!
Thats not accurate. And not all “full spectrum” lighting is the same.
No laughing, but also bearing difficult news. Your light isnt up to par. Its going to affect your over all yield. Its why the plant is lanky and the buds are slender.
I always tell people the 2 most important pieces of equipment are Light and PH pen. Its two places where spending a lil more will get you alot more. When you can, it should be the first upgrade to your grow setup.
Yes! I use it as soon as Mycorhyzae and Bacteria have been added, which can be early in veg at a rate of 1 TBLSP per gallon then 2 TBLSP at flower till a couple weeks before harvest. Depending on my mood its every water only day.
For the lights, "I’d go home with the girl what brung ya to the dance. " I believe that those buds will finish up fine. They may not appear top shelf, but they should smoke well. It looks like you are doing a nice job. Good luck and enjoy.
I grew for over 10 years with a homemade light rig, 4 t5 lights and got some of the best buds around for that time period. Late 70s and 80s.
Best advice I’ve seen on here yet! I can’t help but wonder what all these so called experts think we were all using before these high dollar products came to market. And that was without the internet to fall back on. Chances are, they probably cut their teeth on some of it!
